Two young women, both with the name Nana, one with a punk backround and another with the naive upper middle class mindset, find each other in Tokyo as they pursue love and careers. On board the train to Tokyo to meet her boyfriend Shoji, Nana Komatsu ("Hachi") happened to sit beside Nana Osaki who was traveling to Tokyo to fulfill her dreams of becoming a musician. The vocalist for her punk band, the Black Stones, Nana aims for a major debut for her band in Tokyo where her boyfriend, Ren, is the guitarist for a popular band, Trapnest. Sharing the same name "Nana", both girls quickly form a bond of friendship. Their paths cross again when they encounter each other while searching for accomodations in Tokyo. Eventually, they decide to live together and this further strengthens their bond as the two "Nana(s)" go through their love lives and career.

It's definitely a shoujo series, so if drama, angst, and real-life issues are not your thing, I don't recommend it. However, that being said, if you don't mind a good shoujo series now and then, this would be a good series to pick up.

In any case, you could probably read through the first volume of the manga or watch the first few episodes of the anime to get the gist of it (and I mean the first few episodes, since the very first one wasn't the best, IMO).

Hm...you're talking to an otaku, so I'll save you the trouble of reading a list. I'm reading anything and everything that I can get my hands on. ^^ I'm particularlly attached to Vampire Juuji Kai right now. The fighting isn't that good but the storyline's good and the characters are believable. ^^ If you haven't read it, I definitely recommend it. It's done by TJO so you can't download off their site. I get it from http://www.xanadu-dreams.net/ since they're up to date in their manga hosting. ^^ Feel free to look around that site. They go by scanlation group.

I highly recommend Vagabond and Blade of the Immortal to anyone who hasn't read them, Vagabond for awesome fight scenes and story, Blade of the Immortal for the fight scenes art work for humour its story isnt too bad either.

I'm finally getting the courage to read Naruto. It seems good to start with, but it's looooooooooooong and ongoing.


thats how i felt when i started reading Bleach, but it took less than a month to get all caught up

and yeah, i might start reading Naruto...unless someone here says otherwise..

Man, I just started reading Naruto.... so good. I think Naruto suffers from the same problem(?) as Bleach: Too many badass characters. It's hard to pick a favorite when everyone has good qualities. I'm only up to the part when Gaara is Kazekage, but so far my favorites are: Itachi Uchiha, Sasuke, Neji, and Gaara.

Hitman Reborn! is getting extremly good now that is actually ''serious'', lots of action, and cool action btw, lol.
Even though it starts slow (it starts getting serious in chapter 62) I really, really recommend it. Warning though: You wont like it unless you don't mind watching the main character underwear(aka Boxers) lots and lots of times(until it get serious), lol. I actually find it pretty funny, so if you don't care you are good to go, lol.

Oh and, I just finished reading Zombie Powder, hell it was soo good.
