One of the most hated gundam pilots but i think hes pretty cool so lets just argue about it.

I hated him since the first episode when he blamed Cagalli for all his problems.
Why? Because he blames his problems on everyone else. He's extremely cocky and when is given a chance to show what a great pilot he is he throws it back in his superiors faces tells them to do it themselves, after he bitched about how he could do it so much better. He doesnt listen to the other side of the story thinks his is the only tragic story.
I also don't like how he can compete with Athrun and Kira in a mobile suit. Kira has been learning OS his whole life. Athrun's father was a military leader, he was sent to a military academy at a young age. He's always been a soldier. Both Kira and Athrun fought in a war.
Shinn's family gets blown up he goes and trains in the Zaft military for 2 years and all of a sudden he's this ace pilot who can take on the two best pilots from the war.

But yeah if you really look at Shinn wasn't that great.
The Destiny was the most superior Gundam ever built at that point and Athrun completely destoryed him in the Infinate Justice.

When he was up against the Earth Forces base in the early eps he went and trashed the place. Stomping on innocent people. Those were NOT his orders.

Well , the problem with Shinn from my point of view is that he has a lack of personality and and never questions their supperiors orders and he doesn't think about the consequences (you're right Aya), but I dont think that he does ridiculous actions, he just tries to prove that he is the best and people can trust in him when something is going wrong

The point about taking advantage of Kira's kindness: Kira just killed his girlfriend. Again, put yourself in his shoes. And, thing is, he didn't really care about whether Kira shot to kill or not. The point about blaming Cagalli: Had he known that Kira killed his family, he would obviously have blamed Kira...but he didn't know. Although his views may be flawed, he just thought that it was ORB who was responsible.
The point about being easily influenced by politicians: How do you know that you yourself wouldn't be? Besides, is this even a reason to hate him?
night wolf...on the contrary, he does fight for his beliefs. He believes that the Earth Alliance and ORB are hindering the path to a better world, and he fights to pave that path. He fights for revenge. He fights in the belief that Durandal will make a better world.
Yes, I agree, Shinn is naive. But that is hardly a reason to hate him. Just remember...everyone has flaws. But everyone has virtues as well.

Kira is ruthless, he killed both sides without reconsidering and cagalli is shit because she lost to shinn in the akutsuki/golden ord gundamwhich can defrect beam weapons. the only stupid thing about shinn is his unneccessery use of his excalubar which always snaps in-two. playing that dorky music when he's doing that pansy move spoils it, they should've played a bit of rock.

his gundam got upgraded once to destiny which is clearly a close combat type like the savior. despite the savior having a double image effect, it's still crap compared to the system and power which the justice has. the justice is basically the freedom but customised for close combat. kira's been upgrade more time, strike - freedom - strike freedom and the kira used to go seed in order to use his rail guns and leohgreens all at once but in destiny he doesn't need to. shinn has to go seed in order to use his excalibur properly as well. If you've played G generations then you can stack up ALL of the pilots from different series e.g. compare kira and amuro of by which amuro is actually a hell of a lot better in typical nu gundam hyperized than kira gone seed AND seed doesn't count as nothing but a better accuracy and critical ratio wilst hyperized amuro boosts everything as his power shoots up like kamilles. kira v.s. shinn would result in kira winning because he has more experience at piloting such a powerful gundam but when shinn goes seed, his accuracy increases madley in the game and kiras remains barely better but I think that's because boosting kira up more would make him as good as amuro which his not.
At the end of the day, kira would kill shinn in a fight but shinn is no walk over. and kira is responsible, do you want me to make a gif of it and put it up as proof?
the only thing shinn sucks is glory and fame from ray and luna, kira may be stronger but his dull personality, contridiction of evolution of by which he would have been a weakling and finally his absurd ability to use funnels/bits is crazy. kira, rau and mwu fucked seed up with thier "newtype" abilities.

Shin was only able to take kira out for a number of reasons, kira was not focusing on or taking shinn seriously
It never did show kira go in seed mode whether his eyes are glowing or not that means nothing. Every other time it shows it the seed burst.

kira would get beat by even kou when his in his gundam GP03, its I-field would just water down or even reflect all of kiras long range weaponary plus the freedom isn't exactly a gundam known for its close combat ability. Kira could beat kou if he were in the GP01 though.
Shinn could beat kou in his destiny gundam, its excalibur sword would deal massive damage and proberbly break the I-field generator aswell.
so in this case kira > kou > shinn
and there are a lot of UC newtypes who could thrash kira aside. even yuu from blue destiny in his BD III could beat the crap out of kira. Dare I say this but perhaps nimbus in his BD II could also beat kira ??????

Shinn was an idiot. I don't think anyone really liked him all that much considering his personality and attitude. He blames everyone but himself and he hates Orb for the death of his parents. Sorry to say it but his family were collateral damage. Things happen in war that shouldn't happen to begin with. Innocent people die when they shouldn't. the only UC characters which couldn't are usso because the victory gundam is crap, christina because the nt-1 gundam is ridicoulessly useless and a disgrace to the original gundam. And shiro couldn't simply because the ez8 is weak and can't even be used in space terrain.

Either way, Kira can be called a genius if you're talking about his fast engineering skills and OS but in terms of an actually battle, he does the same thing over and over. But amuro actually designed the nu gundam and helped with its engineering so he knows everything about it. Kira only knows that the freedom has a nucluer jammer but I don't think he even motions its purpose at all...

That retard Seabrook said he didn't like the f91 OS but he still piloted it fine to the point where he was actually able to use its double image effect. Some characters can adapt quickly to an enviroment like garrod but some have to change the OS like kira, either way, Kira isn't really anything special. He was just able to do it real quick but I'm sure anybody in a life dangerous situation would be able to do that. newtypes are more interligent than co-ordinators anyway, that's gundam 101. Newtypes can use bits/funnels but co-ordinators can't. Seed is way too confusing any way, g gundam, wing and seed are supposed to have no relevance to the one year war but kira,mwu, rau and ray all seem to hae newtype powers. I reckon kira shouldn't have even been given the strike freedom, it just made the entire series go overboard. Infinite justice is also overboard with its insane close range ability. Destiny is nothing compared to those two, we all saw athrun handle shinn with ease in outer space so I've actually changed my mind from a couple posts back, kira could beat shinn in destiny with ease but kira isn't a genius, his just harnessing his powers better than other co-ordinators like athrun who does actually mess about most of the time.
there was one newtype moment in seed and that was Mwu, there are no newtypes in seed idiot. Coordinators are not Newtypes, as limited as your knowledge is you should at least know that, jeez.
And dyne, lay off the crack, la cruze or however you spell that Char ripoffs name is not that great, any mid level newtype would wipe the earth of him. The only thing that gives any of these seed faggots a chance is their overpowered suits. Give them one beam rifle and one beam saber and they are toast. There is almost no piloting skill in these AU shows anymore, its all about how powerful can we make the suits.

Shinn is a cocky bastard. He blames all his troubles on Cagalli and Orb. It's not their fault that his family stayed there and get blown into bits. I dislike it when he cries, whines, about "Orb" killing his family and no matter how hard he "tries" to stop the war, he plays along with starting it. Destiny could have done much better without that annoying kid.
Not really. I hated Seed. I just liked Shinn and didn't know why people were bashing him. But whatever floats your boat man. Oh and Shinn is spelt with two "N"s

Yeah dude I meant the Seed series in general. Gundam Seed, and Gundam Seed Destiny, I've just always refered to it as "Seed". Mello out man just cause you hate on him doesn't mean I have to.

Shinn was more of the comedy factor in Destiny for me. The way he blamed everyone else except himself and how he was manipulated over and over was brilliant XD
Saying that though, he had some skill, just not enough to deserve the ultimately amazing Destiny!

Destiny was a cool gundam but that was pretty gay how he lost his ultimate battle to Athrun. Athrun is mega gay and him fighting in the end was so stupid. Shinn looks cool and i think he is way better then Kira but he was lame in the end.

In my eyes, Destiny Gundam is simply a double-edged sword.
When you're increasing your speed (showing off your cute butterfly wings), you're also leaking out the Nuclear Energy!!! This should only be used during the critical moment!!!
What I can see is an idiot who keeps wasting his Nuclear Energy and have to recharge them back in the middle of the battle... :sad:
Its just like how Ichigo is dependent on using Bankai... Haish... I feel so sad for him...

@aishiteru:Destiny does not run on nuclear energy if it did there wouldnt be a meter showing omfg your energy is low. Nuclear energy in the series is limitless so yah aparantly freedom can switch between both types but meh thats just speculation.

After the First Bloody Valentine War, the OS is updated to support the "Deuterion Beam Energy Supply System" that the newer ZAFT suits use, and the system the ZGMF-X_S series uses is re-designated as "Generation Unrestricted Network Drive Assault Module" . Later in the war a third version of the OS, "Gunnery United Nuclear-Deutrion Advanced Maneuver" System, is used in the new ZGMF-X42S Destiny and ZGMF-X666S Legend.
ZGMF-X42S Destiny [GSD] - ZAFT's newest and most advanced mobile suit. Equipped with a hyper-deuterion nuclear reactor and armament based on all 3 main Silhouettes of the ZGMF-X56S Impulse. Believed to have become the strongest MS in history but was defeated and heavily damaged by Athrun Zala and his ZGMF-X19A Infinite Justice. Piloted by Shinn Asuka.

The official site never compiled any info on the third series of suits, Destiny and Legend. I searched through terms and suit specs and found not one word on any nuclear systems beyond only one. That one was for a large size cannon and not a suit. Other than that until they decide to copy down any new info it'll be hard to say. Wikipedia isn't solid but isn't horrible either. He could certainly be right about the hyper-deuterion nuclear reactor being in use in the two suits.
For the Impulse(NOT Impulse Destiny 3rd series) energy system I did find this:
Deuterion Beam Energy Transmission System A new power system installed in ZAFT's Second Stage series of mobile suits and the newly constructed warship Minerva. This system allows the battery of a mobile suit to be recharged by a deuterion beam emitted by its mothership, giving it an effectively unrestricted operating time.
Going with that, I'd say at least say the Deuterion part is correct, the nuclear part doesn't seem to be able to be confirmed though unless we go back through the episodes.

@wesa: yah kinda is seeing as some of the articles there are written by normal people like myself. Anyhuu i'm still not convinced on that nuclear leakage thing because it was clearly stated in seed that mobile suits that run on nuclear energy have no limits except for the pilot factor. another thing that was wrong about that article is that the destiny was made to rival or be greater than the freedom which was the most powerful MS at the time. Infinite Justice & Strike Freedom were made to also outperform the freedom and maybe even the destiny (becuase of the time line in which these popped up i'm not sure about the destiny part). Given the armaments that both suits had its clear that destiny was not the strongest. If i can find the site i used to refer to for information i'll post it later, but what i remeber the destiny having was just a (beam cannon, a sword, hand beam, and flashy wings) strike freedom on the other hand has all of those cept the hand beam (Chest beam, those swishy back mounted guns that i have hated for years cuz they just unfair:weird:,and a superior pilot, some other crap i cant remember). So yah theres no way the destiny was ever the strongest it was just on the freedoms level.
Edit- why isnt dyne here yet =/ i havent argued with him in like a year =/

I never hated Shin, he actually was one of my favorites at one point. But after Stella died, Shin really started to become really annoying, and the way he was defeated at the end was just...
well shin was not annoying to me. i mean his family/lover(stella) got killed right infront of his own eyes! anyone would go beserk! thus i kinda pity him actually.

Frankly, I thought that besides when he kicked Kira's ass, Shinn's greatest moments were those two times early in the series(or was it three?) when Cagalli said something stupid, and then he just kicked her face in, verbally speaking.
Cagalli in Destiny was so pathetic, honestly, it's almost sad.
Shinn I thought had the potential to be one of the most interesting and psychologically complex protagonists in Gundam history - sort of like Kamille, but with an actual personality beyond simply whining.
But not long after Kira etc...were introduced, Shinn's development as a character just FROZE. Which pissed me off to no end, because IMO neither Kira nor Athrun(ESPECIALLY NOT Kira) are as interesting as characters.
And then by the end rolls around, he gets totally shafted simply because Morosawa and Fukuda decided that instead of actually writing a series, they were just going to rehash Seed.

I for one never liked Shinn. For me he was way to much of a idiot at times. Though the only thing I do admire about him is that his heart is usually in the right place but sometimes he lets his heart get in the way of his judgment and that causes him to be more of a moron when it comes to his actions in both physical and verbally. I think hes a great pilot from time to time but I think he should have been one of the many characters that need to get shot.
