Yoruichi & Urahara: Past.

This isn't a match-up suggestion or anything. So please don't flame me for putting this in the wrong thread, maybe it isn't well situated but anyway...

I would like to know as much possible about Yoruichi and Urahara, moments together, moments apart, speculation about their characters, observations about their past in general, fights, childhood, anything anything you know about these characters whether from the anime or manga.

Might be useful to hide anything that constitutes as a spoiler.

I'm only spoiler-tagging stuff recently covered in the manga. People really should already know the rest.

Anywho, the anime and manga haven't told us much. They were apparently childhood friends but we haven't been told how they met.

Urahara doesn't seem to act much like nobility but two of his closest connections in SS are from noble families, i.e. Shiba (Kukkaku) and Shihouin (Yoruichi). This would seem to suggest Urahara may be from a noble family as well. Yoruichi and Kisuke either entered the Shinigami Academy together or very close to one another. They trained and practiced together, and the implication from various flashbacks has been that they were pretty much inseparable.

Yoruichi ended up as the captain of the second division and Supreme Commander of the Onmitsukidou. The latter position--I'm pretty sure--is inherited within the Shihouin house. Her position as captain didn't seem inherited but the manga strongly suggested that the two positions are so closely linked that it's basically a foregone conclusion that a Shihouin would command both 2nd Div and Onmitsukidou.
Kisuke followed along with Yoruichi, taking the position of third seat within 2nd Div with an unconfirmed but apparent role within Onmitsukidou as well.
She supervised his top-secret, risky, experimental training to release his Bankai and immediately recommended him for the position of captain of the twelfth division.

Tessai called Yoruichi Kisuke's only relative in one translation of the manga, which I found interesting. Elsewhere, it was translated as "closest friend," though. Kisuke was undeniably ecstatic to see Yoruichi when she first shows up in cat form during the SS arc and they are typically shown in a very close and familiar manner when depicted together. Their conversations often have an "old married couple" quality to them. The flashbacks have shown she does not often--if ever--refuse him anything or stand in his way.

Personally, I think they are old lovers and best friends. But more will be revealed during the flashbacks.
My speculation is that Urahara created his famous untraceable gigai to help the Vizard (including himself but that's another thread...) escape after creating the hogyouku and that Yoruichi chose to follow Urahara into exile afterward, further cementing my belief that they are lovers.
