Start with Wing. I like Seed, but it gives the franchise the wrong impression compared to the rest. But I would watch Wing first.

Well I like almost all the Gundams since almost all of them have very good story and plot development not to mention kick ass action.

This is my list of Gundams that I will suggest to you to watch.

After the War Gundam X

Gundam Seed (Don't go any further than that. In other words Do not watch Seed Destiny its a waste of time it sucks.)

It started good and it had a good plot but at the very end it turned into a huge love story with even more things that didn't make sense. It had a good plot all the way till Domon vs Master but after that it turned into crap.

Well I think the issue with Gundam are there are a lot of different 'kinds' of gundam, not just series. as someone stated before, SEED is good, but it would give you a wrong impression of the series if you see it first. I say the best gundam series for their types are:

Mobile Suit Gundam(the original series)
Gundam 08th MS team

Gundam Wing

Gundam Seed

I seperated them to show when they're of a different type. The majority of gundam series take place in the old Zeon vs. Earth Federation or whatever time. New ones started to have there own stories and war scenarios. The ones I suggested are good ones to start with as you'll see Gundam in all its different phases.

I liked Gundam Seed and Destiny. I liked that they keep the same characters from each one so you didn't have to learn a whole bunch of new characters. Though they are kinda of hard to get into at first but it doesn't take to long to get into. It's like a good book, The beginning always sucks but it get good bout 1/4 to half way in.

^I can completely cosign that with Gundam Seed, it was slow in the beginning but that thing got epic fast lol. I'd say by the time it gets to the second ed theme(which happens to be my favorite song ever), then it's starting to get really good.

Seriously. Most. Awesome. Gundam Series. EVER.

They might of well just named Destiny's last episode: Gundam Seed episode 50.2. That was the biggest c**kslap to the face that series gave. They just tweaked it a little from the last episode of Seed, it was just role reversal, this time Kira went inside the giant MEGA-DOOM DEATH cannon and Athrun went and made everyone else (except Mwu) look like total pansies. And then it didn't even say what happened next ( I am guessing total anarchy cause one of the major world leaders was blown up by the SECOND DOOM CANNON.)

08th had some of the best combat ever. That series gave me the love for the Gouf that I still have today (ohh wonderful Gouf).

Gundam Wing is my fav and it's a gd introduction to the Gundam series. I haven't seen any gundam series b4 Gundam Wing and some people say that some of the older series are the best. u may wanna just start from the beginning since with most programs the first always tends to be the best.

I totally agree, Meer's version is great. I also loved Emotion, though to be honest Mizu no Akashi(from Seed) and Fields of Hope were pretty decent too.

No, there is no such thing. There's been some talk about a Gundam Seed movie, but it's been nearly two years and nothing's happened, so I'd say it's not going to happen. The Gundam franchise has moved on to something better.

There was. It's called STARGAZER - entirely different animating team, different director, different character designer. Three episodes, 15-20 minutes or so long each.
First two stages are awesome, Stage 3 pretty much sucked.

He did mean "Quiet Night" - or, if you prefer "Shizukana Yoru ni" - the original was in Seed - insert song for Ep7.

I've seen alot of Gundam over the years but the one that is fresh in my mind is Gundam 00. So since it's been forever since I've seen the others I'll have to go with that one. Nice opening soundtracks for the series too. & Closing songs. :amused:

My favourite is definitely the 08th Ms Team series, cause it shows the war from the common soldier's point of view, not the super pilots like char aznable & amuro ray. This series is also said to the most "Realistic". Zeta gundam was also good, so recommend you watch that one as well. The new next generation series ain't too bad either, like 00 or seed... it's just that seed isn't quite out there in terms of animation compared to others, it's more character & drama oriented. The New 00 series is very interesting to me because i like the gundam designs, the characters take a more shoujo look, as sunrise was trying to attract more female fans to the series but it's still quite good, just not like the classics. Every series is different in it's own way, but i recommend you start with one that started it all.

I'd say go for Gundam 00. I honestly haven't watched any other of the Gundam series, but 00 was the only one I ever showed an interest in, and it'll probably be the only one I watch.

Gundam SEED is my favourite and best IMO...but I think Wing is a good one to start with to see if you like the whole Gundam thing...if you do, you'll like most other Gundam series..if not, try SEED if even that doesn't interest you, you're probably not thet Gundam type!

08th MS Team: It feels like an actual conflict during an actual war.

Gundam Wing: I often have a soft spot for first series of something I watch and Gundam Wing is the first Gundam series I watched.

G Gundam: I'm glad that in this series, Gundam finally accepted their Super Robot roots. Plus, I have a soft spot for anything along the lines of Martial Arts films and that's kinda what it was. It was a Martial Arts movie/series with giant robots.

The UNIVERSAL CENTURY(UC) productions, starting with Mobile Suit Gundam, should be watched first, and in order:

UC: Mobile Suit Gundam - 08th MS Team - 0080: War in the Pocket - 0083: Stardust Memory - Zeta Gundam - ZZ Gundam - Char's Counterattack - Gundam F91 - V Gundam


The other series, which fall into the "Alternate Universe" category, are each their own separate universe, and there's no specific order in which you should watch any of them, with three exceptions: The After Colony, Cosmic Era, and Anno Domini timelines:

AC: Gundam Wing - Endless Waltz
CE: Gundam Seed - Gundam Seed Destiny - Gundam Seed Stargazer
AD: Gundam 00 - Gundam 00 Second Season(ongoing)

(If I may also make a recommendation, don't watch GSD, as IMO it is overall a terrible series - started off quite well, but it had IMO the WORST ending of any Gundam production, and it has I think the largest number of pointless recaps, overused flashbacks, and rampant stock footage reuse of any series - on occasion you even have flashbacks to events not witnessed by the character having the flashback O.O.
Stargazer, which total is less than an hour long, also had a pretty lousy ending, but it's quite good overall, and does not suffer from msot of GSD's other flaws)

SEED/Destiny and 00 are entirely separate from UC, each in its own Universe.
You don't need to have seen any prior Gundam series to watch 00 or Seed.
