The Story Of Resident Evil:The original Resident Evil made its debut in 1996 for the Sony PlayStation. It was both a critical and commercial success leading to the production of two immediate sequels, Resident Evil 2 in 1998 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis in 1999, both also for the PlayStation. A port of Resident Evil was released for the Sega Saturn and a port of Resident Evil 2 was released for the Nintendo 64. In addition, ports of all three were released for Windows. The fourth game in the series, Resident Evil Code: Veronica, was developed for the Sega Dreamcast and released in 2000 (followed by ports of 2 and 3). Sony PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube versions were later produced in the form of an updated version entitled Code: Veronica X.

Despite earlier announcements that the next game in the series would be released for the PlayStation 2 (which resulted in the creation of an unrelated game titled Devil May Cry) series' creator and producer Shinji Mikami decided to make the series exclusively for the Nintendo GameCube. The next three games in the series: a remake of the original Resident Evil, the prequel Resident Evil Zero (originally planned as a Nintendo 64 game) and Resident Evil 4, were exclusive to the GameCube. In addition, the console received ports of the previous Resident Evil sequels as they originally appeared on the PlayStation and Dreamcast. The remake and Resident Evil Zero were both released in 2002. Despite this exclusivity agreement between Capcom and Nintendo, Capcom released several spinoffs for the PS2 that were not part of the main series. Eventually, Capcom released the GameCube version of Resident Evil 4 in 2005. A PlayStation 2 version was later announced, which launched later the same year with additional supplemental features. A Windows port was released in May 2007, while a Wii version with the PS2 port's extra features and motion sensitive controls was released on June 19th, 2007.

I just watched Resident Evil Extinction, and can't wait for the sequel. I have also been drooling about Resident Evil 5 for longer than I can remember.

Its coming along pretty well but still needs work. So do you guys think Resident Evil 5 will have Iron Maidens and stuff like 4 did? I really like the new ability to shoot a hole in the door before you go in to see if your walking in a trap.

I don't think it'll have Iron Maidens will be in 5 because IIRC they were the creation of Saddler/Salazar. I thought that this game would feature a more primitive version of Las-Plagas-like parasite but it's still possible it may feature creations from 4. The most recent trailer from E3 showed a very El Egante looking foot about to crush a soldier so it may be true. The Iron Maidens or a updated version of it would be great in 5 because I found them to be the creepiest part of 4.

What ever the monsters may be, I'm sure its going to be good.

What other weapons do you think Resident Evil 5 will have? I know we saw the sniper, (saw or at least heard about) the shotgun, pistol of course and whatever I may be missing, but what else? I want to see a torque bow like in gears of war. That would be epic. What would you like to see?

When I first played 4, I remember being on edge because I had just gotten the special scope out of the freezer and the Iron Maiden popped out. Good times lol. I think I'm gonna torrent it for the PC real fast.

Actually, I'm pretty sure Chris has a machete in place of the knife in this game so there's hope for your decapitations.

Yes melee weapons would be awesome, I wouldn't mind slicing a few heads off. Those knives she had in Resident Evil Extinction will probably be in the game.

Yeah, I always thought that the knives were pretty much useless in the games. Wow, a machete. Now, that's gotta be great, especially for all the killing that's gotta be done. And, I loved the mine thrower in the games. I used to shoot a bunch of 'em off, into a group of zombies and just sit back and watch the fun. It was pretty funny watching another zombie walking by the one I just shot, and then, they both blew up into pieces. I loved it.

Yeah me too, I loved that weapon, I mean, even though it wasn't the strongest one there, I think that it was one of the funnest to mess around with. And yup, I used to do a count down as well, just waiting for more of 'em to gather around, and then the big kaboom, and always put a smile on my face when that happened.

I would suggest playing it with a gamepad because the people who ported it spent like 10 minutes doing it. It has problems with the mouse and keys so I just use a gamepad.:push:

I know. It's one of those games where you can play it over and over. Plus, did you do the 'Ada side missions????? That's tons of fun too. So much to do in RE4. I hate the games where once you finished them, there was nothing left to do, no bonuses or different endings or special weapons and stuff. But this game, is full of great stuff to do once it's completed. Same with RE2 as well. It's 4 games rolled in to one. Hell, I still play the RE2 just for fun.

I love playing the 2nd parts of RE2, those parts freaked me out more than the first parts. I still jump when certain things happen in the second parts. Even though I've played thru 'em so many times, I still jump.

Yeah, I do agree, but there are times, especially when I haven't played in such a long time, that I still jump at certain times. Those games are always fun to play over and over again. That freak of a monster from the 2nd half of RE2 still gives me the creeps, especially with the music and atmosphere, always creeps me out. And usually kills me too. Yup.......

I dunno. Re4 was different from the other games, new gameplay, a new story and all that. Re5 is basically the same but a whole new story. That is not necessarly a bad thing.

Now those weres great movies and I'll take those kinds of movies any ole' day. hi yeah leon is a great character in RE4 but i always love villains in movies (not in a fag way...) and for me krauser and wesker are the best in RE4 i love 2 use those two in the mercenaries mini game

My fave weapon is the semi-auto sniper rifle in Resi 4, such good fun popping off heads and having the crazy things come out. Ada is my fave character.

I had a really hard time unlocking all of them....but, I did unlock them. and wow, Krauser's arm, I loved kicking those zombies asses with it....hell, I love when games have plenty of unlockables.....and, wow, I loved using Sherri's armor costume cause then, no one could try to steal her away, I loved when they fell on their asses trying to carry her off.....that was so so funny.......

I don't think Leon ever smiled in the movie. I wonder if the events of RE4 caused him to be that way or the creators felt he should be dark. Anyway, I thought the movie was great. Way better than Paul W.S. Anderson's adaptations anyday.

Hell, when I played Alone in the Dark for PS1 a very long time ago, when the game was finished.......that was it.....not one single special weapon, not any special levels, zip, so i was wicked pissed, but, with RE4, damm, i mean, the weapons you can get, the costumes, and mercenaries bonus games, but lol, the best costume, has gotta be the armor for Ashley, because it made it soooooooo much easier to just leave her alone while i went ahead to kill of zombies and other doomed souls lol....because the armor made her too heavy to carry, and lol, wow was it funny...but, the games gotta have at least something for a bonus, i mean, some games are extremely hard,, and it's nice to open up something special after all that hard work......

Wesker's dead is lame and stupid, is full of plotkai... If he can destroy a body like he did to Spencer Chris should be dead with one or two hits. Sadly RipVanRagnarok, I've never gotten a 360 at all, always stuck with the Sony's.....and wow, i hated played RE Dead Aim, when the guy had to fight the monster Tyrant, and wow, even though he wasnt the main end boss fight, I thought that at least it would have put up a decent fight, but, wow, was i let down......i mean hell, it moved slowly, and was an easy kill.......i hate when the ending boss battles are such let downs....i mean, at least give us a great ending battle, we've earned it, we've played all thru the game to get to the best part, the boss battle at the end, and when it's a letdown, then, it does ruin the experience to even replay it again....but, after losing job in june, i've gotta be careful with cash, cause i'd love to get the 360, original x-box and PS3 and the Wii too, but, I can only get one, so, it'll be sony all the way, but maybe when things get better, maybe i'll get the other consoles and start building up my library of games like i've done with all my PS1 and PS2 games.....damm, i've got games everywhere cause there's so so many lol.......but, i just hope when the PS3 is bought and the RE5 is bought that i hope i enjoy the boss battle, because, i love looking forward to the ending boss fights........i loved the RE4 ending battle, hell, i died, over and over lol, but, damm, i think that Krauser killed me more times than the ending boss, only because i'd press the wrong buttons lol.....but when fighting Krauser in those ruins with those bombs around, damm, same thing, he's fast, super fast, and his arm, hell, i used to on purpose fall over the edge instead of dying lol......

Damm, wish I had the Wii console and game for it as well. Wonderful economy, takes ones job, then ones dignity. But anway, I loved using the sniper rifle and just watching their heads just explode into bloody messes lol. Damm, so many awesome weapons on RE4, but I truly miss the bow-gun from the other RE games. Those were alot of fun, especially on the 3rd game in the series, where you can make your own ammo, I loved my bow-gun, and on RE4, for messing around, sniper rifle and mine thrower, but, um, has anyone beaten Mercenaries bonus game with Wesker? I mean Krauser's arms was awesome, and a one kill stab that was so much fun, but, did anyone ever survive with Wesker, because damm, I got sliced in half with the first chainsaw guy that saw me, I died every damm time.

agree agree agree, I mean, going thru that lab, and having to get in that little room to get that infared scope for your rifle, and then that, um, i believe it was that Iron Maiden who popped up. Damm, scared the hell out of me. And playing at night, and alone, really gets creepy playing RE4, but well, well, well worth it. And that dammed giant fish when crossing that lake in the boat, shit, I dont know how many times i fell off that damned boat. And I was so freaked after some battles while playing in the dark, that I'd accidently kill the merchant :sad:, so, i'd have to restart all the way back to my last save point, so now, i've learned to save and save often. But, one awesome game....totally awesome.

damm, you lucked out, cause, i kept running all down that hallway after i escaped from that lab room, and it took me a while to realize to use that scope, and my hands were shaking so badly, that it seemed like forever to kill him. He freaked me out, and, damm, when i saw him coming after me, chasing me thru each room, i knew that it was either him or me, and, um, he got me the first time though, yup, and, the pic they show when u die in that game, was pretty gross hahahahaha....one could say, i was sitting on the edge of my seat on "pins and needles" in fear :woot:

Omg, I'd have to say 4 hands down, with all the bonuses at the end, with the new style of gameplay, how instead of when a zombie is coming at you in the 3rd one, and u just lifted your weapon, and you always hit them, way way too easy, and i know you can set it so that you can aim for yourself, but the 4th, it put a whole new and harder style of play into the picture and graphics, awesome, but again, 3rd was on ps1, 4th on ps2, and omg, the 4th had not just zombies coming at ya, but hell, an island full of mutant monsters.
And with the 3rd, you had your locker with the typewriter usually, and could put all you wanted in it, and never run out of space, but the 4th, you had to play it smart, and decide what to keep, what to toss away, i mean, you even had to use your brains just for what you're gonna keep, and the Merchant and his special target rooms, that's a really nice touch added to the gameplay too....so, my vote goes to the 4th, much better in almost every way, only good thing in the 3rd, was you could make your own ammo, and you had Nemesis after you. So, 4th got my vote :smile:

Code Veronica X and Zero are part of the main series too.

My favorite Resident Evil, is of course, 4. My favorite old school title is the Gamecube remake of the original Resident Evil. I didn't really like 3. It was fun to blow away all the zombies with the assault rifle, but Nemesis was a real pain in the ass. RE 2, I liked better than three as you get to play as Leon and Clare in multiple scenarios, allowing for more replay value. Co-op in zero was okay, as your partner was competent enough to shoot your enemies, but it didn't hook me right away. I just played it for the storyline.

I highly recommend playing Code Veronica X. The graphics are great for a PS2 title as is the story. You get to play as Clare and Chris and the weapons are awesome, especially the launcher at the end.

Oh wow, I can't believe I forgot about Code Veronica for PS2. That game was great. Especially Steve, I loved that character, and I cried too about what happened to him, what those sicko's did to him, it broke my heart. But, damm, that game offered so damm much, and I can't believe I completely let that awesome game slip right out of my mind. And oh wow, yeah, that weapon at the end, man, that blew my mind. I loved all the weapons, and damm, killing that monster on top of that roof or whatever it was, and, damm, the first time, i forgot to pick up that sniper rifle and was dead very very soon, and, i got it the 2nd time, and he still killed me, i got too close to the edge of the bldg, and he was too close to me, and guess i took a dive, so, i made sure not to mess that up again. But yup,, you're right, I love that game, it's awesome.

damm, to be able to finish a game, from such a great company as Capcom, and to beat it around 5 times in UNDER a week, now, that's pretty depressing, and also Don Panini as well, damm, maybe some PS3 games arent worth the hype, and it's better to stick with the devil we know, rather than the devil we dont know. Just a saying of mine i use now and then. Hmmmmmmm.....I wonder, how many mine throwers can be shot into one of those bosses, and see, just see, if he blows to pieces, or if he still needs to get killed in that certain way...but dammit, that fucking statue, chasing me, and, damm, i died sooooo many times, then I figured out that it would be a combination of 2 sets of buttons each time to avoid getting killed inside that room and then, when he's crossing that little bridge to the other side and again, more sets of buttons and running my ass off , frigging jerk, killed me almost every damm time, so I'd love to shoot him full of mines, or better yet, get my infinite rocket launcher and go nuts on him, but alas, nothing will happen to him, and it'll just get my blood pressure soaring lol, but I'd just take my anger out on the next set of monsters or zombies that come my way lol...that'd be fun hehehehe

You'd have 4 games all in one game :bigsmile: and damm, I loved RE4 for the PS2, but hated RE: Dead Aim, playing RE in the first person shooter AND 3D adventure/horror, it just didnt work for me. this 6 year old computer can't play any PC games anymore, I used to be able to play computer games until less than 2 months ago, but damm dsl company, I had a very nasty virus, and the woman just started going into programs and deleting stuff, and the game mabinogi stopped playing, and I'd get error messages saying that now my graphics card was no good and needed a new one, but before dsl jerks touched my computer, I could play any PC game.....so sadly, no RE5 for me yet and no PS3 either :sad:. i've played most of the resident evil games, i even seen some comic books of resident evil (friend of mine collects them), and my favorite hmmmm its one of the older ones but witch one i can't tell for sure, to long since i've played them, although i don't hate the new ones, its just that RE4 did not have much to do with the onriginal story line, and RE5 replaced a lot of the "scary" moments for action and i hate how they kill the end boss (not saying what or who cause you havent played it yet, just saying it deserved a better end) im currently playing RE5 on my xbox 360 with my kid brother (cause if you play alone your "partner" sucks, i need some intellegent help).
and i'm no pc genius (they tend to break when i toutch them) but randomly deleting programs is not a good option, but can't you find the driver program for your video card somewhere, cause that worked when i accedently deleted all video card drivers on the pc (yes it was truly by accident, i'm that good with computers)

OMG wosaja, I NEVER knew it truly was a comic book first. I know many anime's start off first as comic books, and a few games too, but I would have never thought that RE first started off that way. Wow, that's wicked awesome to know, and I would of loved to have read some of them. I wonder if the very first game kinda stayed true to the comic book and the characters or if many things had changed. But I remember the very first one, there were live action parts from real actors during certain cut scenes cause I guess they didnt have the technology to put in cut scenes like they do today. But I actually laughed that it suddenly would switch to like a real tv show lol. But guess that was gaming in it's younger days. But, I still enjoy playing the older games, like RE2, and RE3, but RE4 blew me away. And damm, RE: Dead Aim was a total let down, yup, with it switching between FPS and 3D animation.
