Any tips/advice on writting song? I'm a fairly good guitarist, but when I go to try and come up with words, it tends to.... well, suck, or just sound really corny/cheesy. So yeah any advice or tips would be appreciated thanks in advance.

What sort of music do you play though. the writing styles always vary for the musician. I play acoustic guitar with my songs so it's always different.
The only advice i can give is to just start messing about with riffs or chords or something and see if lyrics come to you. If they do they just try and go with it. I know that probably isn't much help but it's the best i can do at the moment.
Also make sure you write EVERY little idea you have down. It helps SO much if you do that.
Good luck!

i have to agree with the above poster. not only that, but it really depends on what music is being played at the time. i can't think of someone who is able to write a song without the melody of the music being played. it helps to make those lyrics coincide with what is being played.

I try out different styles, sometimes kinda punk-folk acoustic, or sometimes more "emo" like Bright Eyes or Dashboard Confessional, it kinda depends on my mood. But thanks for the advice, Ill keep that in mind...
