I'm kinda surprised that Yin is so popular. I mean, it's obvious why Hei is, but Yin's an alltogether different thing and I don't think I've ever talked to anyone who's watched the whole series and disliked Yin.

When asked about the possibility of a sequel to Fullmetal Alchemist or Darker than BLACK (another BONES anime), Minami told ANN, "It hasn't been decided yet. We are interested in doing them. As original science-fiction works, they were extremely fascinating. With these kinds of dramatic story lines, I feel that there's a lot we could do potentially."

Would you guys prefer a 2nd season which is sort of a prequel and deal's with the events at Heaven's Gate or a sequel continuing the plot where the original anime left off? ^^

Mmm, I dunno, both could be interesting. There's still a lot of mystery around Heaven's Gate and the war there, and the portion of South America that "vanished", they never really gave enough details on that. So that could be really cool.
But I also want to see what's going to happen next, what will Hei and Yin do now?

^thats strange...(sorry to intrude) I tried to read Black Cat, but never liked it at all. I didn't really appreciate DTB's manga either. However, I thought the Anime was strangely good.

My fave characters are Hei and Amber. Hei for the electricity ability and keeping his cool, and Amber. Her time control OWNS!!!

And fave moment is the revelation of the core in the end . . . gave me the creeps! :D It's the very reason why I like DtB: Intriguingly mysterious.

and I have to say that I love Hei and his ability to control electricity, especially since that his electricity can change the molecular makeup of a person or object that he uses it on, I can't exactly remember the details about it, but I remember hearing it said in an episode.

to me it was a really great scene, cause the animators started to make you believe that Hei was dead and then he uses that moment to fake his death and save himself as well as beating the other guys.

Agreed, and the scene where he splashes his own blood on his face and then (IIRC an episode ends with this) Wei clicking his fingers was also a great move by the animators, also making you wonder whether Hei'd finally been killed or not.

Btw have you heard the rumours about a second season of DtB? It was in the same leak a while ago (last July) about FMA:B, but the DtB part of the leak has yet to be confirmed...

N.P. Really sorry to mention something else, but 'gorgeous' has been spelt 'georgus' on the front page too :( I'm sorry that I notice these things - I don't mean to be picky so please forgive me.

oh, that was another great episode, cause I actually thought hei was dead, but I think that having hei instantly think of a counter-attack and fake his own death so quickly, really proves that hei is such a great fighter, and can think quick on his feet.

Yeah, I too thought Hei was dead for a moment - that was some impressively fast thinking on your feet and a big part of what makes Hei so awesome. Stuff like that adds an element to the fights scenes in DtB that most other anime don't have IMO.

Hopefully the manga will make for some good discussion - I'm going to get started on catching up now.

and rr, I would have to say that dtb is about an 8.5-9, it's got a great plot and characters and action, but at times it's a hard story to follow and would be best described as an "episodic anime" since the episodes/arcs are based on hei's missions. but it's definitely worth watching.

hmm, I think that it's a very possible scenario, I also think that we'll learn more about Hei's abilities and his obeisance (cost of his contract). and perhaps we'll meet new contractors and the prices of their contracts as well as the costs they pay. (<-- I always found that part very interesting).

Yeah, his obeisance is a big empty space right now, it is definitely something that might (read: hopefully will) get looked into imo. I have always found the concept of supernatural powers at a price per usage in DtB are rather unique and intriguing concept - especially the way it's introduced right at the very start of the anime, with one of the more severe obeisances...

Oh, sorry, I changed my avatar about a week (maximum) after the first chapter of Drifters came out, which would have been knocking two months ago now, lol. The weaponry pretty much screams assassin, but well, to be fully human and compete in a world of contractors using just a rifle, you have be something very special. I agree with GG that she gives off a human vibe, and using a rifle doesn't seem much like a contractor. Though Hei still uses weapons, even if they tend to be directly to support or aid his powers. So, like I said, I'm not sure.

I don't see how a rifle can aid powers though. Hei's weapons are the perfect fit for his electricity or whatever. He uses them very well, but a rifle is just a rifle haha. I sort of agree with Icy though, she does have that sniper look. I just hope she's bad ass.

And that would be the logic behind my use of the word 'even' in my mention of Hei's weaponry. Because I too cannot imagine what kind of power would be seriously augmented by a rifle (actually, that's not quite true, but afaik it's not a viable contractor power.) She does have that look, but how much is due to the sniper rifle in the frame with her, I wonder. I have high expectations for both her and the series in terms of badass-ness btw.

it's called "Darker than Black: Shikkoku no Hana" aka "Darker than Black: Jet Black Flower".

Hei is obviously after that dude (the last page of ch. 2 said something like the devil or some shit). He has to be making contractor's of his own free will so Hei & the company are out to get him. That's just my opinion, idk though.

Yes, I definitely think that that plays a big part in making DtB more than just another series with cool characters. As for the girl (Chapter 2 title was kinda funny, actually, just called 'Girl'), I am very reluctant to try to second guess DtB. Where she coms into play will depend on whether or not she becomes a contractor and if so, who (Hei, Kirihara, or the guy would can supposedly make people into contractors) she ends up with/who is the dominant influence on her.

Well, I think it's going to be good regardless, but yeah, if it turn out that way it's going to be pretty intriguing. DtB being DtB, is pretty hard to tell whether the girl is going to be a persistent character, or like you say, just and example to show us that guys' powers.

well the good thing is that DTB is in both dubbed and subbed versions so you can choose between the formats. I've still got to watch it dubbed so I can see if it's any good or not.

whoo!!!! i just saw the new ep! dang! i have a good feeling about this season.

i guess hei can now do other stuff than electricity because of how he created all that black energy by transmutating the gate particles like his sister. too bad april had to die, lol that cat that she kills looks like huang. so i guess how april kills the other contractor is cuz he's going so fast that the water particles are hard like lead? i'm still a little puzzled by that part, nice effects though.

I find materializing a giant gun sort of boring. Like the writer/director/whatever couldn't think of a better ability, and were like 'well, how about a giant-ass gun'.

I have fallen in love with this anime. Unfortunately I started watching at the beginning of the 2nd season so I have a lot to catch up on. Hei is pretty bad ass to be able to take on contractors even without his powers so I can't wait to see more badassery in the 1st season.

I wonder . . . who's got the real memory : In Suou's timeline, they got hit by a shooting star, which scarred his left eye. But in Suou's mom's memory, Shion's eyes were intact, and she claimed that she cremated Suou's body, thus the shooting star event didn't happen.

One thing for sure, her memory about the family gathering in the aquarium is fake.

I suspect the mom got fake memories implanted in her.

I have to say Hazuki has taken the place of April as my favorite contractor after this one. Just hope Hei doesn't kill her at the beginning of season 3 or I'm gonna have to hunt some people down.

same here! the story was way too short and left too many plot holes. plus we didn't any more crazy awesome contractor fights like we saw in the first 3 eps. i really hope there's a third season, movie, or ova to explain everything.

I'm assuming that if there is going to be a season 3 it won't come out until the OVA is done, which I don' think will be for awhile. The first 1 of 6 has already come out but I read somewhere that the next episode isn't suppose to come out until march 24th or something like that.

alright, just saw the first of the OVAs and I thought it was pretty good. had action from the beginning that sucks you right in, looks a lot more like the old Hei in S1. I really wish he'd still wear his mask but w/e i know it doesn't matter at this point. if batman and hei were to get into a fight batman would get his ass handed to him. (minus the fact that hei has electrical and molecular mutation abilities) It finally started to explain how all of a sudden Yin is a super crazy contractor killer and how she eventually will get separated from Hei.

Season 3 is a must, season 1 (especially its beginning) felt more like an introductory season, and there just SHOULD be more stuff coming up. Although season 2 didn't really grasp the nature of the series anymore like it was in S1 :sad:

the thing about S2 was that the main character was that girl, not hei, it was a weird transition because it was all hei in S1.
