View Full Version : best looking car?
I know that over 90% of the members over here love cars, but there is one thing that most of us dont agree about when it comes to cars........
I think the Audi R8 is the best looking car and here are some pictures

that's pretty, but I personally have a soft spot for the older really curvy Corvettes, and those huge cars from the 50s with the huge tail fins. Also, I like crazy concept cars. Example: I want a fuel cell car.
mmmm.... June when it comes to Porsche i am sure there is a better looking class than the boxster for example the Caymen.
Caymen you say? ah that's pretty too but I like Boxster more...I think it's just cause that's a cabrio though...and btw, good to see ya around again...lol, long time no seen. :amused:
@Aidan: hmm from the older cars I think the only I'd fancy is the VW Beetle... :odd:

My Dad has a Boxster S, gonna be mine someday. As for the best looking car it is between the Ferrari F430 Scuderia, Audi R8, and Nissan GT-R. For 4-door cars it is the BMW M5, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X, and Mercedes Benz C63.

Well, there is a lot of really great cars in here.
Some of them are classics.
Some say Lamborghini, Audi, Porsche.
But for me there is only one car that suits for me...
That is the new Nissan GT-R (R35)
I have a pictures, so take a look at it.

480 bhp, twin turbo, 0 - 60MPH in 3.5, almost impossible to understeer, dual-clutch transmission, 11 speakers including 2 sub woofer, all season supercar, 4 seat, for only $70K, this is just what I was looking for.

Pumpkin13, there are many concepts out there but most don’t look the best such as some of the ones that you posted no offence…I still can not wait till the new supra comes out looks good well from what I have seen…the new gtr look alright it is some thing different from its older form and its performance is pretty impressive…
And although the DB9 looks hot that really all it is got going for it…the performance is not great especially when you compare it to other cars in that price range…and ford had owner ship over the company that just damn sad…

I don't care of you like it or not, but GT-R is the best FOR ME. The design is great, the interior is flawless, the performance is outstanding! The only rival for Nissan GT-R is Porsche. I don't like other car because all of them only focus on speed, while Nissan GT-R have it all. It's a all-season super car. The speakers, 11!!! No other standard production super car offer that!!! The best part is... the engine is super quiet, and at 170MPH, you still can steer the car with your left hand only.
Oh yeah, by the way... Concept cars is 'unfinished' cars... There is no point showing the car that can't be bought and drive it on the road. Seems stupid to me... concept cars... huh...

The GT-R, at its price really has no direct rival. As far as track rivals, there is the Porsche 911 Turbo (which equals it in drivability, speed, has better brakes, and a much better interior), GT2, GT3 (although much more expensive), the Z06 and now Corvette ZR-1, the Viper GTS, and few others that aren't much more expensive. If you want to steer with one hand at 170mph, go for it...
Concept cars are absolutely CRUCIAL to the automotive business. It showcases things that are to come for that particular car company. If showcasing an upcoming model, it creates more hype for the ride, and is usually thinly veiled in comparison to the following model. Sure, bigger wheels, perhaps a body kit will be a part of it, but it is all to create interest in the automobile. There would be no auto-shows if not for Concept cars, and we'd miss out on MANY performance automobiles because the automakers gauge the reception of the concept and make decisions on whether the car is worth building or not. New technology is also often showcased, only years ago MP3 players in cars were a huge deal, and that technology first was showcased in production automobiles at an auto-show. Same goes for pretty much any piece of technology you see in your car...

Best-looking non-Porsche out there IMO would be the '67-to-'69 Mustangs. Those things were B-E-A-UUUUUUTIFUL.
Honorable mention to the new Camaro, for taking the same idea Ford had with the new Mustang, and doing it better.

When you say GT1 do you mean Carrera GT? If so there is a big visual difference:
http://cdn-www.rsportscars.com/images/porsche/2006-porsche-carrera-gt/carreragt06_121600.jpg
http://cdn-www.rsportscars.com/images/porsche/2006-porsche-carrera-gt/carreragt06_061600.jpg
The GT2 and Turbo are very similar however the GT2 has more fins and a larger spoiler to create more downforce for that 50 extra horsepower. The GT3 has more fins then the Turbo yet it has less air intake vents. Also the GT3's front fender is slightly different then the Turbo's and GT2's.
But yes they are very similar looking. They handle differently though. The GT3 and GT2 are track cars while the Turbo is more of a "normal" car though it is pretty extraordinary.

He's lucky to own one of those. But it's too bad it's just a concept car from the 1950's. I don't think it can be driven anywhere normally; it is only best for display
Oh, and I just realized I spelled the car company wrong: It is "Alfa", not "Alpha". Here's a picture of a tiny toy version of the car (I have it. Isn't it cute? lol:odd:):

Gumpert Apollo fails too hard. Though it did pretty well on Top Gear. And when I say pretty well I mean it performed amazingly.

Way back they used to make inline 8s and V16s all the time. Long engines are problimatic, and thats why they are not widely used
I like practical and fun. I have my supra and I will probably get another one. Evos, miatas, civics, and the 240sx are easy to mod and fun to drive. Best part is your bank account and credit cards can afford them. the new GTR cant keep a transmission intact, otherwise I would want one.

What is that a Mk2 Supra? Turbo?
Either way, it's a cool car. I shopped around a bit for a Mk4 Supra before getting my second Lexus, an SC400. They share a platform and several parts are interchangable as I'm sure you know.

W16 is the correct term for two V8's welded together. I don't think I've ever seen an actual V16 though. It would make the car ridiculously long in the front. The prime example of the W16 is the much overrated Bugatti Veyron.
lonelyfighterx
01-28-2009, 11:21 PM
Bugatti Veyron is the fastest car on a straight lines, but when it comes to corner, it is not as good as other super car such as Porsche. Maybe due to the big engine.
By, the way... I knows this sounds silly, but is there anyone in this world who owns a Bugatti Veyron? The price is just too ridiculous.

Bugatti Veyron and Lamborghini Reventon are two cars that I really want to see but haven't yet. I've already seen the Carrera GT and Enzo.
That comment about Bugatti Veyron being slow--well offcourse you have an engine that weighs a ton slowing you down in addition to the four turbos and the multiple radiators that car has. If you watch Top Gear you would know that the Pagani Zonda F Roadster and Koenigsegg CCX is faster around a track. The Veyron is more on the level of the Enzo, Porsche GT2, Zonda F(non roadster), and the Maserati MC12.

Its a 89 MK3 turbo. Mk4 supras, while far superior in both power and weight, are way over priced for what they are. SCs are great cars(and are just lexus variations of the supra anyway). Just get a 2jz and drop if off in your sc. People do it all the time, though the 1uz it has now is a good engine.

Correct. Inline 8s and V16 engines had extreamly long gaskets, blocks, heads, and cranks, making the car prone to gasket falure and very heavy. The power obtained was negated by the difficulty negotiating a turn, thus making the power usefull only in a straight line. The Veryon will get stomped by a lowly 120hp miata on a track all day long.

There is no doubt that Bugatti Veyron runs slower around a track race. We can't expect a giant to moves so fast and violently in a quite small space. If I'm not mistaken, Bugatti have about 10 radiators to fully support the engine. It is one of the thing that contribute to the massive engine weight. Maybe someday when the world would be able to create much better engine or at least much smaller and powerful cooling system, we will be able to replace today's V10 and V12 engine in a super car.
Talk about small engine, I do think Wankel engine (or known as rotary engine) will have promising future. All it need to grow into a flawless super car engine is better cooling system.

Porsche's engine development in extraordinary. The GT2 has an I6 with 530hp do to twin turbos. That's on the level of the V10 in the Gallardo Superleggera. Not only that but the GT2 is equal to the Murcielago which has a 650hp V12. And they were both being driven in the rain which gives the Murcielago a huge advantage due to its four wheel drive system.

Last time I checked someone made a quad rotor 2.6 turbo making like 1400hp. The newer ones consume less oil and, so far, are more reliable than the previous variations. The bigest problem with those engines is educating the owners about keeping up with fluid levels, as a wankel consumes oil during normal operation.

I had an SC300 with the 2JZ before I got my SC400. Rather than spending thousands just to get the 300 up to par by turbo'ing it I went with the 400 after passing on a E36 328is. The 1UZ is a very good bulletproof engine, the availability of performance mods is not too great, but there are still many options. My car is more a GT in style type of thing, I'm not going for anything special although I do have the custom BFI intake and custom exhaust with Tanabe muffler. Mostly for looks and sound more than anything. If anything they offset the weight of my wheels as far as straight line performance is concerned. Hardly a barn-burner, but low 15's is good enough for me atm. The 1UZ has surprisingly strong high end, I've pulled on a couple cars on the interstate I had no business beating really.
