Keep going, Dresden just gets more grissled and powerful, not to mention a bigger smartass. The universe expands with almost every book and the plots become much more developed. I cant wait for the next one to come out.

I bought Wizard for Hire a few months ago. Its one book but has the first 3 in it. Sadly I get distracted easily by other stuff.... >_>;

But I'm on the 2nd book now. Slowly reading it...

I was pleasantly suprised when I stumbled onto this thread. :amused:

I've just recently started on book nine and I must say- the dresden files is one of the best book series I've read in the urban fantasy category. Harry, as a very snarky and witty person (more like a smart-ass) is a very entertaining character to follow. The books are well written, the characters well developed and the world very intriguing. One of the selling points of the books is that the protagonist is male and you know that the books will be filled with action and suspense instead of supernatural sex and ridiculous drama (Anita Blake, anyone?). I recommend the dresden files to any one who enjoys urban fantasy.

I didn't know there was a book series either. I saw an episode of the show on Sc-Fi and thought it was cool. Got to check this out sometime.

this sounds familiar...From the posts it looks like it is also a tv show or movie. Was this the one about the wizard who was like a PI?

sorry, that's all I can really say about it. I watched 2/3 of the first ep before sidereel pulled a fast one on me....grumbles.

Yeah, and if you live in the US you can watch the whole series on hulu (http://www.hulu.com/the-dresden-files).

I just started reading book 4. But since I get distracted easily I'm not far into it. :(

I'm actually on the newest of the series, Small Favor. I love the entire series but the first few are a little slow, once you get to Death Masks and Blood Rites it really starts to suck you into the universe of Harry Dresden.

Also the television series came no where close to doing justice to the books, they messed up enough of it that I just couldn't get into it, they messed up the characters Bob the Skull and Karrin Murphy, and they jumbled up the stories so bad, and quite frankly they could have gotten a better Harry Dresden. But if you like the books or even the television series go check out the graphic novel of this, they just released it not to long ago, it's a comic book version of the first story Storm Front, it doesn't have the full story unfortunately but it's still worth taking a look at if you're a fan of the series.

These are pretty much some of my favorite books so I'm pretty much always ready to talk about them if anyone is feeling up to some in depth discussion.

Hello,
I read the first two books, I thought they were ok, but they could not keep my interest. I am not sure what about them made me stop reading. If you like fantasy, give the first one a shot.

It really picks up after the second one, I remember having to force myself past it, it just couldn't hold my interest, but I'm glad I kept with the series.

YES! Someone else likes this series. I love the Dresden files and can't wait for more from Mr. Butcher. I thought the sci-fi show was lame though.

The sci-fi show was a major disappointment. Have you read the graphic novel?

....well... this is awkward....
Finding an old post dissing a series I am now completely obsessed with...

...something like this could only happen to me.

Also, for me, the second book was the best, and what hooked me! I don't know what is wrong with the rest of you.

Changes comes out April 6th. I preordered like 3 months ago on Amazon.

I'm not saying that the second one was bad, it was just not as great as the others.

Hmmm... Maybe it is because of HOW I liked it. I loved the fact that when you thought it should be over, something crazy happened.

His books have gotten much better after Dead Beat IMO.

There's a graphic novel?

There is a graphic novel. I actually bought the first one: Welcome to the Jungle:
Free preview:

Needless to say, I was extremely embarrassed when I got in the check out line to buy it. I always told myself I would never buy an American comic...and I ended up buying it. :(

Anyways, there are also comic book adaptions for Storm Front and I think Fool Moon. However, the only one worth buying is Welcome to the Jungle, because it is an original story with the original artist (who is damn good. The new guy can't do shit).

It is like 20 dollars though, so bring your coupons. Great read and very beautiful art though.

Right now I'm reading Small Favor. I'm kinda missing Lash T_T

I did enjoy the graphic novels, it was nice to see the characters done right, unlike that abomination, the tv series.

ouch. A TV hater. Oh well.

And yes, it was sad to see Lash disappear. She was Harry's all in one super translator.
