gundam vs gundam the next game in the line of federation vs zeon, gundam vs zeta gundam (both of which were great games), now comes a psp game.

this shit seriously makes me consider getting a psp. from what i see we got suits from every fucking series. from the original to 00...that is bad fucking ass. if the gameplay is even semi-decent its gonna be a badass game.

i see suits from the original, 8th ms team, 0080, 0083, zeta, ZZ, CCA, f91, victory, 00, G, X, seed and destiny, turn a, and wing. did they miss any? lol

I've just downloaded this game today and I must say, I'm both amazed and yet disappointed.
The good news is, the famous suits we know like Strike, Impulse all have got uber abilities. Transformables like Aegis change modes with different keys, so unlike Rengou vs Zaft, you don't transform by flying, which is a very good improvement.

The bad news is, whoever led this project is pretty lazy. There are only 4 unlockables, the last 1 is Destiny,(which has got major improvements as well, but I found it a bit difficult to use). Only Exia from 00 makes its appearance. Kyrios, Dynames, Virtue...nothing much. Suits like Saviour, and the other Seed/GSD suits that I'm more familiar with are not in.

In other words, this game has include many unique functions of each mobile suit, but failed in the aspect of "mobile suits from all series" There are not enough of the more popular ones.

There is now something called the G-Crossover. Its basically a guage that fills up as you attack or get hit. When its full, double tapping the L button triggers something like...an ultimate skill. Depending on the series your MS is from, it would summon different things to attack a rather large area on the map. For example, if you used Exia, it summons Virtue to do a burst mode, and Kyrios for bombardment. The ally's G-Crossover would also be used at the same time.

Next, there is something called the Mobile Assist, where each mobile suit can summon a unit for support. Exia calls for Dynames, which can hit targets outside of your own range, (oh, Dynames' beams are the fastest in the game)..Impulse calls for Saviour, and so on...

On the whole I rate this game around 8 to 8.5/10..It could have done better if they included more MS, and improved the controls a bit more. Some combos are not easy to press. Button mashers would find no problem though. If they had more suits from the Seed and 00 timeline, I'm sure it would have been alot better,IMO

Got a very good reason to get a PSP now. A 00 vs Zeta battle would kick so much ass. The GP0 Gundams are in it too, awesome.

Cracker's preview images seems to have apparently covered both "Gundam vs. Gundam" and the sequel "Gundam vs. Gundam Next". I'm not sure... and Sebonzakura has also covered the gameplay in the first game in his post.
The sequel is more less the same thing. It comes out Spring of 2009 (Most likely some time in March). So basically the main difference is that "next" comes with more mobile suits and a new system called the "boost cancel", which works apparently similar to the "Seed Destiny Federation vs. ZAFT" game's speed seed system.

A few things that fans/players should take notice of in "NEXT";
*Exia has Trans-Am.
*Gundam X can go X divider mode.
*All units have been modified somewhat. Walking/boost speed, assists, dmg level, etc.
*Manual shielding
*GP02 had a faster Nuke launch, but a much smaller radius(Uncertain)

Rumors about "NEXT" gameplay;
*Freedom has infinite boost for a short duration
*god finger does not block beams
*zeta can't do hover mode anymore unlike in the first game.
*boost canceling require a lot of boost so probably it only possibly done 3 times max
*everyone can block nukes

It will be ported to a console or handheld sooner or later, every other gundam versus games got ported to a console or handheld, so I can see this one getting ported too. Just thought I'd do an early bird special on "next" so we won't be digging for info when it actually comes out.

Custom firmware. Using custom firmwares, you can download games and run it through a memory stick. MS Pro Duo... I'm not sure how to install it, I only know how to update it, since mine came with custom firmware (if you're from singapore, there's a whole building selling IT stuff, and they already meddled with the firmwares..So its pretty easy for me.).. And for NEXT, on the psp I really hope Kyrios will be released. That's the only MS I'm dying to try out.
