Plot Summary: A man with eyes that are so scary, so mean looking, that he's been isolated by almost everyone he's ever met. A girl who's said to be as fierce as a tiger. There is one girl who isn't afraid of him, the tiger's best friend, and as a result he's developed a crush on her. However, his only male friend is the idol of the tiger's affection. Due to a misplaced love-letter, the two team up in this odd-pair romance to help the other succeed in their love-goals.

Good episode moving in a typical manner of course but still very enjoyable. I find it pretty funny that everybody is scared of Ryuji because he looks crazy.

Its a new manga for 2008 so they only have 12 scanlated so far. It looks to be a great one though. The manga moves slower but I like it. There is a lot more interaction between Taiga and Ryuuji.

yeah... I was impressed by that outburst Taiga had of "Ryuuji is MINE" during the swimming competition... it was awfully direct, but we haven't seen much more from her. I think the first few episodes were almost too direct in driving home the point that they "secretly" have crushes on/like each other. Now it's so obvious that it kinda ruins some of the fun of the drama... though I'm kind of worried about Minori, she seems like she's about to snap.

To be honest I'm starting to feel bad for Ami. She started out as a total bitch, but now she's the only character who really sees what's going on, but she won't get her second chance most likely.

The whole pool scene was amazing. I was like... woah.. if only she were that passionate about Kitamura lol I dunno if anything really will come out this episode as the group is trying to get Taiga and Kitamura together, but there's always a possibility. I also feel bad for Ami because she actually did change her attitude. But I think her not getting a second chance is along the lines of you only get one first impression and she blew it. And.. New episode should be coming out today!... Can't wait! lol

Ya, I was just watching the first two episodes over and they clicked from the beginning. When they went to Ami's beach house, didn't Kitamura and Minori trick Taiga and Ryuuji? I think everyone thought they made a good couple ever since the beginning. I think I finally understand why Minori got so depressed when Ami brought up her guilt. Alright, well... from the start everyone thought that Taiga and Ryuuji were a perfect match for each other. Everyone saw that but them, and in the process Taiga has come to rely on Ryuuji and Minori saw that. Being Taiga's best friend I assume she knows that Taiga has always felt alone. Minori likes Ryuuji and she knows Ryuuji likes her too, but she feels guilty because Taiga finally has someone to rely on. So the guilt comes in that she's gonna take away the one person who Taiga can rely on leaving her alone again. Hence why Minori dumped Ryuuji even before they went to the dance because she saw Taiga crying out his name in front of the apartments

It's kind of long winded lol If my explanation is unclear I'll try and reword it. I had such a simple description before when I realized it and since forgot how I would explain it lol.

It's a similar deal with Ami, but Ami's much better at dealing with her emotions.
The problem for Minorin is that on top of all that, she's in general not good at opening up, which is why she always puts up the front of a goofy, wacky personality, so that people will be friendly to her but she can avoid serious conversations. That leads to her bottling things up, which isn't healthy. I've done similar things in the past, and it sucks. It's really hard for some of us...


Edit: Well, I expect him to be depressed for a bit, but he seems to have had the creeping realization that he likes Taiga for the last few episodes, so I'll be disappointed if it takes too long. I see Taiga or maybe Taiga and Ami breaking him out of depression, and then he can finally fall for her, but I feel like since we still have 6 episodes left assuming it's a normal 26-episode series, there's bound to be some drama left.

Second season ain't happening. Toradora is based on the lightnovel series which will end with the next volume in march. Also, the anime staff has received the general outline of the plot from the author, so both ending should be generally the same, although there might be a slight change to the details.

Originally I wanted to see Ryuuji end up with Minorin, but I mean... it was sort of like that accidental thing in my opinion meaning that even though Ryuuji was just trying to be friends with Taiga he ended up caring for her more deeply than he thought... however I am still not so sure that its 100% that Taiga and Ryuuji will end up together though, because Ryuuji could really just like Minorin that much to not be swayed by what was said...

However... I think I will be happy either way it ends up cause to me, both Ryuuji and Minorin would make a good couple, and Ryuuji and Taiga would... (I say Ryuuji and Taiga would because over the episodes they compliment each other well... in my opinion of course)


edit: As to what Darwich just asked, its supposed to be a joining of Taiga and Ryuujis name in their japanese transliteration ways of saying their names The title Toradora! is derived from the names of the two main characters Taiga Aisaka and Ryūji Takasu. "Taiga" can be transliterated into the English equivalent of tiger, and tiger in Japanese is tora (虎 ?). The first part of Ryūji's name, ryū (竜 ?), means dragon in Japanese, and a transliteration of dragon into Japanese is doragon (ドラゴン ?).

Giving Taiga character, it would not be easy for Ryuji to tell her what he really think.

Taiga want Ryuji to love her but at the same time she want him to be with Minorin.
Minorin probably like Ryuji but know that Taiga like him as well so she make it look like she isn't interested which is one of the reason why she doesn't stop to work, so that she can probably forget about it by doing something else. She want Ryuji to hook up with Taiga so that they can be friend forever, it is simpler this way for her.

Ryuji know that Taiga like him and he like both of the girl, probably Minorin more since he hasn't stop trying to confess to her. Ryuji also know that Taiga is putting a lot of effort in their relationship which is a reason why he is uneasy with this problem. If Taiga would be a little more selfish everything would be faster for Ryuji and he would probably be with Taiga.

Taiga love Ryuji and want him to be with the girl he like, she wouldn't be happy if one day all of a sudden Ryuji confess to her, what would be the meaning of her effort for them? It would mean that Ryuji doesn't love Minorin that much if he throw her away for Taiga just because he got rejected before even confessing.
Taiga would be so pissed off even tough she like him

The best solution for Ryuji is to go for Minorin and make everything clear, if she does like him he can get with her, if she make it real clear that she doesn't love him, he will get depressed and Taiga will make her move slowly to him and he will probably end up with Taiga.

The original is the light novel series, not the manga. The final volume was released a few days ago in japan ^^

The manga is only up to volume 2 or so I think, while the anime currently is at Volume 9 and the final novel is the 10th.

yeah... I think the whole "getting married" thing ruined it. It's way too rushed. The whole point of leaving us hanging for so long was a cute moment of them confessing to each other. the whole drama of taiga's mom coming was such bullshit too, set up one episode earlier if that... these last 2 episodes have been quite disappointing. Shame. I wanted them to just have a cute high school romance, maybe a kissing scene, then half an episode of rough sex, er, I mean, um...

It's not like they're getting married lol, it's probably just a desperate stupid teenager decision, it most likely won't end with them getting married at the end of the next episosde.
Things will probably be tied up pretty well next episode, although they should've aimed for a 26 episode schedule, and not a 25 episode one. They're covering like....a whole volume in 2 episdoes or so.

It made perfect sense, lol. The central theme of the anime has been that people are constantly running away from their feelings/problems. After Taiga saw how Ryuuji dealt with his family problems she realized that she couldn't keep running away either and that she had to fix her own problems so that she and Ryuuji would be able to have a happy future.

Toradora is the first anime of this type that i have ever watched and i was hooked since i first started watching it(which was actually because of this thread. Kudos 2 Darwich) bout a month ago.

The whole show was great from start 2 finish. Hoping that there will b another season.

I liked the ending. It made up for ep 24 actually in my mind. They're young and make lots of stupid decisions, but it was good, and I thought the ending mirrored their personalities and the show well. Part of me does want a second season of just them being cute together, but I know that's a bad idea.

I think the last 2 episodes completely killed what was a really good anime IMO.

I knew from the first episode who Ryuuji was going to choose. And every episode after that only supported it more. I would have preferred a big twist at the end where Taiga never comes back.

I guess part of my frustration comes from how I did not like Taiga's character. Ryuuji changed during the anime, where Taiga only had certain moments. She was a spoiled, whiney little brat.

At the end when she headbutts him. WTF was that. She is just as immature as she was during the rest of the anime. Only made me dislike her more. I was hoping for Ami. She changed the most during the anime, and turned into a likable character.

Maybe next season will have some better comedies. I was disappointed by a few shows this season.

It's not that I don't like tsundere characters, I just didn't like Taiga's. And I really enjoyed the first 23 episodes.


They were better off as just being friends IMO. But because they were always around each other and never actually tried to confess to their respective crush, they ended up falling for each other.

Heh, it's just the opposite for me, Taiga is probably one of my favourite tsundere characters (Nr.1 will always be Tohsaka Rin though!)

Well, I've always felt that their crushes were just your typical highschool infatuation. I loved the development Ryuuji's and Tagai's relationship underwent throughout the series, and compared to their crushes their love feels much more like the "real thing" to me.

There were times during the show when I felt bad because I thought that Minori deserved Ryuuji more than Taiga did, but Taiga had the chemistry with him.

The kissing scene though was really well done.
