Soooooooo... any Tomb Raider fans here?

Don't want to scare you off with a massive OP so i'll start with a few starter points for discussion;

What's your favourite TR game and why? Have you played TR: Underworld and if so what do you think? (Don't forget spoilers in case others haven't completed it yet)

Personally I think my fave's are probably TR2 and TR3, TR2 because of its sheer epicness, the levels were long if not massive as well, awesome puzzles, plus some cool fights as well, loves the settings, Great Wall of China, Venice, Offshore Rig etc all great settings. TR3 took Lara and gave her the oldschool tomb raiding on the Indian levels but also took her to new places, putting her in much more high tech scenarios as well as a London level which was cool.

However I must admit, kudos to Crystal Dynamics for reviving the series after the atrocity of Angel of Darkness, they've streamlined everything, made it fun again, although both Legend and Anniversary suffered from being too short, they did take her back to her tomb raiding roots, and made some of the ground up at least for their short length with their unlockables.

TR: Underworld seems to suffer the same to an extent, the levels themselves are epic in proportions, but themselves don't take that long to complete.

Anyways, over to you guys ^_^

I've played every single game to carry "Tomb Raider" in the title. I've actually really enjoyed the Tomb Raider series overall because I am very big history buff, and getting to parade around in lost civilizations looking for artifacts will always appeal to someone like me.

But, the problem is, you play one Tomb Raider game you've played them all. The dynamics and gameplay hasn't really changed much since the first one. The games mainly have to rely on their stories and what Lara Croft is going to get herself into in order to keep the franchise remotely interesting. But, with games like this...they work. Which is why I give praise to Eidos and Crystal Dynamics for not changing/ruining something that already works.

But like I said, you play one Tomb Raider game you've played them all. it's fortunate enough that the story for most of the games is interesting, Lara's character always develops properly and the gameplay is always stellar.

Now, my favorite Tomb Raider game will always be Tomb Raider 3, simply because you get to run around and raid Area 51. Now that was good times...despite the fact the game was buggy and had a frame rate issue in certain areas.

If I had to rank the Tomb Raider games in terms of best to worst:

Tomb Raider 3
Tomb Raider 2
Tomb Raider Anniversary (yes, I know its a remake of the original Tomb Raider)
Tomb Raider
Tomb Raider Underworld
Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation
Tomb Raider Chronicles
Tomb Raider: Legend
Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness

(Note - I'm not including the GBC, or the GBA game)

i've actually never played a tomb raider game, but it seems like the kind of game i would really enjoy. i'd really like to try tomb raider underworld. i'd love to play like tr2 or tr3 since both of you said they were the best, but my ps2 is really tempermental (a lot of times it won't play discs)...so i'm hoping the ps3 version of tomb raider is decent, and it should be a new experience for me, because i've never played any of them before.

just got tomb raider: underworld today. looking forward to playing it.

omggg, here's a big fan of it!! >_<

gosh, I have played with TR2, 3, 4 and 5 soooo many times! :odd: I've also liked the Angel of Darkness a lot but I hated the ending of it...meh, it was sorta unfinished for me cuz I've come to like Kurtis's character quite a bit.

and I didn't get the chance to try out Legend and Anniversary...or Underworld...yet. >_> but as I've heard they are all pretty damn good! :odd:
