Summary:
Kyon, your typical high school student, has long given up his belief in the supernatural. However, upon meeting Haruhi Suzumiya, he quickly finds out that it is the supernatural that she is interested in; aliens, time travelers and espers among other things. When Haruhi laments about the lack of intriguing clubs around school, Kyon inspires Haruhi to form her own club. As a result, the SOS Brigade is formed, a club which specializes in all that is the supernatural.

Much to his chagrin, Kyon, along with the silent bookworm, Yuki Nagato, the shy and timid Mikuru Asahina, and the perpetually smiling Itsuki Koizumi, are recruited as members. The story follows the crazy adventures that these four endure under their whimsical leader, Haruhi. The story is based on the light novels by Nagaru Tanigawa.

The Disappearance of Suzumiya Haruhi Movie


The story takes place from December 17 until December 24, a month after the cultural festival. (Synopsis contains slight spoilers)

On December 17, everything is normal. The SOS Brigade, led by Haruhi Suzumiya, plans to have a nabe party for Christmas. However on December 18, Kyon arrives at school to find everything has changed. Haruhi is missing, and Ryoko Asakura, who had previously been deleted by Yuki Nagato, is a normal student. Yuki is an ordinary human, and Mikuru Asahina does not recognize him. Only Kyon is aware that everything is different. The only clue is a bookmark left by the alien version of Yuki, which leads Kyon on a quest back in time, where he interacts with the storyline from "Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody", trying to sort out the mystery and return to his own time line.

Nah, I kind of doubt that. The hare hare yukai is so...iconic for this show, they'll probably just keep using it instead of trying to create another theme song and trying to make that one popular.

Mhm, there's also talk around of this being a reverse-troll, that is they'll actually air a second season instead of just a rerun of the first. Damn you KyoAni for making this so...confusing :P

I went with the newest mazui subs in 720p quality. Translation is good and the video quality is far superior to the other subgroups.

I'm still waiting for the Yuki subs though, they're a bit slower, but always good quality.

I just read The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya and it was stated by Kyon in the beginning that it's half a year after the formation of the SOSdan. Since the japanese schoolterm starts sometime in April the events of the Sigh happen around fall - I think it was even stated by Kyon when they threw Mikuru into the water.

TL;DR Having the Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya after the Vanishment makes no real sense, so that list is probably a fake? I'll stick with the one in the first post then.

They've joined up afaik. To be honest I've never watched anything by L-E so I can't comment on their quality.
I don't really know which parts DB does, but I get annoyed by DB's usual localization in the subs. In this case there were also some dodgy translations and they just generally lack Haruhi-knowledge. Blergh.

Anyway, I updated the first post with the subgroups I'd recommend.

Anyway, the episode was great, and the second half was really intense. Also it was interesting to see the loop again, now with small differences.

Frankly I can't wait for this arc to finish or at least move forward.

At least they are redrawing some scene everytime otherwise I would bore myself to death watching it and the fact that 90% of the line are reused don't help.

The first episode of the arc was good, the second where they realise that they are redoing the same thing over and over was good as well, the third and fourth episode were crap. I'm not against repeating the same period a lot of time but I could not care less about timeframe where they don't get anywhere, not getting any new information about how to solve the problem or are at least not trying to do anything to solve it.
Yuki said it has been over ten thousand of time, I understand that it isn't fucking moving, they don't need to waste 2 episode who could be employed for something much greater to show it again and again.

I raise my fail flag, at least until it improve. When I see people calling that genius I just can't help to think how the fuck is that genius, the concept of a human influencing the whole space and time uncounsiously or not is not even new. (Which is what blowmind some hard-fan)

Haruhi is good, no doubt about it, I'll probably like this arc after it finish but god they aren't helping us liking it for now.

Well, I watched episode 2 a couple of weeks ago and then didn't have time to watch for a while, and now I return to find that, aside from the characters figuring out that they are stuck in an infinite time loop, the story hasn't progressed at all in my absence....lol

I don't really know what to say, except that if the title "Endless-Eight" can really be taken as an implication that there will be eight episodes just like this, the producers are really pushing their luck with the viewers. I probably wouldn't even be watching if I didn't like Haruhi so much, and wasn't expecting something awesome to happen to finally break the loop in the end. Oh well, I guess this is a way of building up anticipation, but watching the same events over and over is really starting to get a bit tedious. One or two repeats would have been quite sufficient to carry the point across...:neutral:

There's rumors that this is going to be a 42 episode run, so if that's the case I really don't mind that they've used so many episodes for E8, since I actually still enjoy them (the last episode was along with the second E8 easily the best of the current arc). I'm only worried that they might skip other parts of the novels which I wanted to see animated because of the lenght of E8.

But if the rumor about a longer airing proves to be true then everything's fine for me.

Also considering Haruhi's popularity and the amount of material which still hasn't been animated makes it very possible that the second season can be longer than the first. Or in this case it's not even a new season really...

I heard it will loop until episode 7, 8 and 9 being the conclusion of endless eight. Tough I wouldn't be surprised if Kyoani decide to troll and extend the endless eight arc on the whole damn season.

Amazing movie, it was a perfect adaptation of the novel . In fact, I feel like I like the movie is better than the novel because some scenes were just amazingly well done, and felt more intense than the novel counterparts.
The production values are of course top-notch, this being a KyoAni production and all.

Also, as expected, Yuki moe overload. And long haired Haruhi ｷﾀ━━━━(ﾟ∀ﾟ)━━━━!!!!

Even looking at the trailer, the animation is godly and the backgrounds look like Shinkai.

As for my input of the plot, I'd have to say that this part of Haruhi is probably one of, if not the best, part of the series up to this part. I don't remember much about it, except that it was awesome. I don't want to remember either so it'll be so much more satisfying.

Can't wait for the DVDs to come out already T_T.
