Sony = full of BS?

Ok, I am an owner of PSX, PS2, PSP, PS3 and a Sony Bravia 32" HDTV (I use my Samsung 32" for my PS3). So you can tell that I'm a Sony fanboy, but after doing some research and reading some articles, I've come to realize that Sony does terible marketing and for some reason driving PS3 to doom!

If your PS3 gets the red flashing light, you gotta pay 150USD (i think) to get a refurbished one (not new). Xbox360 has a 3year warranty and they replace defective consoles for free.

Where are all the exclusives? MGS4 goes to xbox360, Final Fantasy XIII as well, GTA4 as well, Resident Evil (first to Nintendo) as well and many more I cant remember.

Lack of great exclusive titles. Ok, we 're getting Killzone 2 and God of War III and in the far future Final Fantasy vXIII and maybe in a couple of years Kingdom Hearts 3... Yeath we got great games like Resistance 1&2 and LBP and Uncharted but that's about it...

Xbox360 is getting from us all the great games and has many awesome ones too like GoW 1&2, Mass Effect2, Lost Oddysey, Blue Dragon and more.

Our online play is not that great. Yeah it's free but not that great.

The cost of the console is that high because it has a blue-ray drive, right? Well, yeah but I have yet to see a game that's so big to make use of the blue ray capacity (25GB and x2 layer 50GB). I mean the current games fit in 1 or 2 DVDs! And the blue-ray movies are expensive and if you don't have a big HDTV you won't notice that of a difference..

What's with the 512 RAM? It's a next-gen console with that amount of RAM? I know xbox360 has 512 as well...

Ah wow we can have Linux OS! Well, it doesnt really work. It's very limited.

Their costumer support is pathetic, they are rude and don't really care.

In Japan they have a huge amount of demos and add-ons in their store while in US and EU store there're way less.

There's more but I'm too tired and you probably don't care..

PS3 is still a good console, but because Sony isn't willing to pay the developers I'm afraid we'll lose more and more games to the competition..

I just don't wanna see PS3 meet the same fate as Dreamcast.. PS3 has untapped potential damnit, but sadly, faulty managment/marketing.

Yeah MGS4 will go to 360. It's been confirmed. Lost Oddysey ain't great but at least it's a solid RPG.

I never said God of War 3 goes to 360. Gears of War 1 and 2 are on the 360. They are both abbriviated GoW, it's confusing.

It may not have the same name (Guns of the Patriots) but it will have additional content I'd guess, like Fallout 3 for 360 and GTAIV for 360..

I find that hard to believe that MGS4 is going to be on the 360. Will MGS4 be a special 12 disc edition or something because it uses the full 50GB of capacity on the dual layer blu-ray. The PS3 is going to be fine if it sees a major price cut in the near future. But it's achilles heel is definitely marketing.

I just googled it, and I see no such confirmation. I saw that Konami said that MGS4 will not be ported to the 360, but their future endeavors will be mutliplatform so they can take advantage of the international market and it will allow for more revenue.

In my opinion, the real problem is not with Sony, but with the developers. Most multiplatform games are made for the Xbox because it is easier to make the games for that. They do not want to make games and code it seperately for the PS3 and the 360. Also, developers have not really cracked the code per say in regards to the cell processor that is in the PS3. It is an advanced peace of equipment. I head that the Uncharted 2 developers said they made a lot of headway in regards to the system and its capabilities so it should be amazing. This is why games like Fallout 3 look better on Xbox. It is made for the system.

Just give Sony a little time, they will pull through once the developers figure out the system.

Gohan, supposedly Xbox has solved that by allowing the game to be downloaded somehow onto the harddrive. This way they do not have to switch disks.

Ok theres seriously alot of faults in everything you stated.

Firstly MGS4 and God of war 3 will NEVER go to the 360 and its been said so over and over again by the developers and Sony. I mean ffs God of war is developed by Sony so im not sure where you get your info from.

You named just as many great exclusives for the PS3 as you did with the 360 and i can add some more to the list if you would like me to?

MGS4 took up most of a blueray disc, then theres the fact huge rpgs on the 360 are on multiple discs.

LO= 4 discs (i think)
Star ocean 4 = 3 discs

FF13 is guaranteed to be 3/4 discs on the 360.

Console ram is ALOT different from PC ram.

You can access the US, EU and Japan store from any PS3 just by creating a new free account..

Data is re-written two, even three times in a blue ray disk to minimize loading times and optimize performance.

As for the rest, I agree with the DLC content. Idk why Sony is not ponying up the money for that. However, as fa as the exclusives, it is the developers not wanting to stay exclusive. They probably tell Sony to pay some exorbitant amount of money to stay exclusive knowing they will not do it. However, I do feel Sony is maintaining the best exclusives excluding FF.

Cursed, Sony is doing the same thing. Bioshock and Mass Effect are both examples of that.

Edit: Yep FFXIII is coming out on the 360 but Versus XIII is PS3 exclusive. FFXIII is still PS3 exclusive in Japan only and is being developed on PS3 hardware. Once its released in Japan its gonna be ported to the 360 and then released.

Yeah, that was a huge surprise. I cannot blame them though. Developers of FF will make double the money now. We are in the multiplatform era now. I would not be surprised if exclusives become a thing of the past.

Almost all of the original Final Fantasy crew has left after the merge with Enix and formed Mistwalker. Hironobu Sakaguchi as well.

Mistwalker (Old FF crew) made Blue Dragon and Lost Oddysey for 360.

@Cursed: Did you know that with every PS3 sold Sony loses about 40USD? I don't know if that applies with the new 80GB models.

Come on a PS3 is a buy alone just for the blueray player, I think. If they can just put out some more money in R&D to get these developers the key to the Cell processor XBOX would get blown out the water. I mean I do not know if anyone else thinks this, but the exclusive games made just for PS3 are superior in everyway to XBOX games or multiplatforms.

Koto, its always like that at first. It is usually like that for a couple years until they are able to get parts for cheaper. With a technologically advanced piece of equipment, it is no surprise that it has taken this long for them to get to even that number.

Also, did you know Sony is only like 6 million consoles behind the 360 in sales. Sony can make that up during Christmas and that is a year less time.

Download the trailer for GOW3 and I am sure you have played the Killzone 2 demo. Both look miraculous. I was in awe of the graphics and gameplay of Killzone 2. I have an HD TV tho so it may be different for you.

I have a Samsung 32" Full HD LCD TV for gaming NAM. I played the demo and I was like OMG, it was too short though.. I've seen the trailer for GoW3 and it's amazing as well.

I have all emblems on MSG4, and bandana, Stealth, so you can tell I've like the game, A LOT! but I finished the game 100% in like 25 hours.. Too short.

Final Fantasy vXIII will be exclusive for PS3. At least for some years. SquareEnix made a contract to stay exclusive for vXIII and Kingdom Hearts III. And Kingdom Hearts for PSP and Final Fantasy Agito for PSP.

Nintendo is doing very well, I believe. The sales are good, the games ain't only kiddy stuff and it's got two of the best exclusives ever (Super Mario & Pokemon). Nintendo never had a really fail console as far as I know.

So yeah the only Company that could lose in the future is Microsoft. Sony could have done a way better job, but I don't think it's going to seriously affect the PS3 that much, especially its future sales. The way they run things is really wrong though in my opinion.

I think Xbox360 will lose in the future simply because it doesn't have that much potential to support really NEXT gen titles. It may be 3.2GHz (I think) but it's graphics card ain't that great and since HD-DVDs are canceled forever (Toshiba canceled their production), the only winner is Blue-ray. PS3 has 6 cells for developers, 1 for the OS and 1 locked atm. Its graphics card is newer and it has on of the best blue-ray drivers on the market atm. The blue-ray driver is roughly 600USD and similar drivers are 1000-1200USD. If only we had all the exclusives that we had with PS2....

Maybe Xbox360 will make available upgrades to it's system though, I don't know.

Sony's PS3, PSP, and PS2 sales up to last November just slightly exceed Microsoft's sales of the 360. They don't even come close to the DS or Wii. Tokyoracer is right in saying that the Wii is indeed a failure, but it reaches a wide audience. Sony has been losing money with the PS3. The costs to produce the system outweigh the revenue they receive from the console.

You do realize that Hideo Kojima actually complained that the Blu-Ray not having enough space right? Blu-Ray is expensive because it's new technology. Remember how much DVD players cost 10 years ago? They were well into the $300 mark after a second or third generation. Blu-Ray has only been out for a little over 2 years. Give it some time before developers take advantage of it.

Oh, and ALL the MGS games are short. It wasn't written to be a long game, it was written (basically) as a movie, to really make the player be interactive with the game.

Don't blame Sony if other developers are lazy. Yea, it's partially Sony's fault for making a tough platform to develop for and developers want the most cash with the least amount of work. Realize developing games isn't cheap and it takes time.

Most developers lose money for every system sold until they sell X amount systems. That's why games and accessories cost so much. I think the Wii has been the best on this, which they almost break even. Hell, it wasn't until the original X-Box was almost dead before Microsoft broke even.

Nintendo has a knack for making a ridiculous controller that only Nintendo can be creative with.
