Is Metastacia actually dead?

According to Aaroniero, his Glotoneria ability allows him to devour a dead hollow and thereby receiving its power and abilities. However Metastacia was designed to come back to Hueco Mundo and regenerate itself everytime it was destroyed. So technically he was alive when Aaroniero devoured him. Would that have allowed him then the possibility of escape considering the fact that he did not fuse with Aaroniero, unlike Kaien, and was merely devoured. I imagine that him not having a fixed form would enable him to make a quick get-away.
