Super Ghouls N' Ghosts.

I got up to level four once and didn't want to shut the game off. It was the farthest I've ever gotten, and I've had the game since before I can remember. There's like fifteen levels in the whole game, and no continues. I don't think I'll ever beat this game.

fatal frame 3

it's confusing, it's scary, and it's hard to gather up enough courage to play with.

not to mention the limited films you'll be having throughout the game. just enough to kill those ghosts.

Agreed it took me quite a while 2 do that as well.

another game i found hard was Shinobi on Mega Drive(Sega Genesis) i couldnt even beat the first boss and one of my friends who did finish it said it was propa hard. i think its safe 2 say the hardest games were on the old consoles like that, simply because u couldnt save and when u lost u had 2 start from scratch.

Don't you hate it when you know you beat a game when you were younger, then you pick it up and you're stuck on one part forever?

I was like that last night on Assassin's Creed for some reason on the last boss. I was like christ I beat this before shouldn't it be easier the second time? But then again that was like a year or 2 ago, lol.

RipVanRagnarok
04-18-2009, 05:49 PM
Yeah, that guy was hard as hell. I kept using counters and I still died. I play the game better now, so the assassinations are easy.

B_K_E
04-18-2009, 05:54 PM
Er not that one, he was pretty easy. I meant the last assassination I forget his name, but its like the captain of the Templars. I kept getting owned by his Templar teammates lol. Each of their hits did like 2-3 damage and they'd always use combos, I got ticked so bad I just shanked them all with hidden blade counter lol.

RipVanRagnarok
04-19-2009, 06:13 AM
Robert De Sable? I died a couple of times with him, but then I went on the agressive with his teammates, then used counters on him. It's funny how you can attack them while on the ground.

I beat the shit out of that. After a hundred or so tries you gradually get molded into a method that actually works. So far claiming the Reichstag is the hardest CoD thing I've done on Veteran.

My absolute hardest (and I still haven't succeed) would be fighting Lenneth in Star Ocean 3 in that tower after you beat the main story line. And if you beat her you get to fight Freya who's even worse. Practically impossible. Next would be Ninja Gaiden on master ninja then comes I-NO from Guilty Gear w/ Dizzy and DMC 3 in last.

Especially with Dynasty Warriors 6 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynasty_Warriors_6), if you up the difficulty all the way...getting off of your horse is borderline suicide. Also, try playing some Demon's Souls (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demon%27s_Souls)...it's definately difficult if you can't get some online help. (Unless you have like 300 arrows all the time)

Lenneth isn't that hard on 4D, you can easily interrupt her Nibelung Velesti.. and AAA off her weak attacks to get in some good combos. In 4D.. your Al controlled party is basically useless, I normally just control Fayt and Maria myself, Unless I'm trying to loot some Valkyrie mail off of her.

Freya on the other hand.. she's insane, her Ether strike is executed almost instantly and is hard to interrupt her... once that shit goes off, I do believe you're fucked.

Being a great JRPG fan, I could almost tell that they aren't too hard, because it all depends on how much time you spend with a weaker enemies to strengthen your character and rise your level.

Hard games are games where you actually must press more than just X, like platforms, or action adventures.

But anyway, I think the hardest game I've played was Tomb Raider 2 on PSOne.
Controls were so horrible, that I didn't even finished the game.
Not to say how much time did I fall from balcon or something...

I'm a little irritated to admit this, but for me, it's gotta be the first Xenosaga episode, and I love that whole series. It wasn't the concept or the controls or anything, it was that the game had SO MANY cutscenes, leveling up to a decent area was darned near impossible unless you sat there for hours, and then the little battles just took forever. This is saying something for me, since I love RPG's and tend to spend most of my time beating crap up with little regard to the storyline. I don't know how many hours I spent leveling up the first time just so I could whoop the blue Testament's butt, but it was a lot, and it felt so good once I tore him a new one.

Yexley
08-07-2009, 07:31 AM
I wouldn't really count that as hard, that's more like time consuming and annoying. I find all the old games where 1 hit kills you and gets rid of every powerup you had and makes your next life about 50 times harder (Contra, R-Type etc.).

TW501
08-07-2009, 08:15 AM
It is an old one, but this one sticks out in my mind from when I was younger: "Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back" for Super Nintendo. I love the game, but wow, that game gets very difficult early on in the game.....I think I'm close to the end, but damm, I keep getting my ass kicked, then have to start the whole level again, they have to continue points on their levels, so it's always back to the beginning of the level....but for now, it's Manhunt for me.

DMC3 (Need I say more?)
RE4 on Professional Mode (I almost got killed by Dr. Salvador and the Bella sisters and kept getting owned by Mendez. Afterwords, I immediately gave up when I thought about how more of a pain Regenerators, U3, and Krauser would be, -_- Screw that.)
Siren 1 for PS2 (I hated the school level, it pissed me off when Harumi kept getting caught by the Shibito, not only that you don't have very good health or weapons on that game)
The Hardest game I've ever played is without a doubt Tomb Raider II for PS1 (Not only are there too many death traps and no checkpoints to revive at (or continues), but the controls were also too damn frustrating to work with (my thumbs were really sore after playing through the first two levels). After being stuck on the Opera House Level for so long I just gave up, well at least I only spent a buck for it at a thrift store.)

Resident evil 5 on Professional..

Reg zombies can kill you in one hit if they have a weapon in hand. This is because on professional the games damage allocation is a lot different. Zombies do 600% damage to you while you do something like 10% damage to them. It is really hard.

A long time ago my friend told me Disgaia was really hard. He leveled to 99 and then went back to one or whatever like 6 times and said the last boss still whopped on him like it was nothing.

Mortal Online beta, it's like Oblivion on "OMGWTF" mode. Can't go into the details thanks to the NDA, but the challenge is enough to make success a meaningful thing.

How is this game? I ask because the vids make it look like ass. But, games are not always what they look like.

So far it's rough, and the videos are just leaked crap from people who don't know what they're doing. Every week or so more is added and once it all gets added and bugged test it should be a damn good game on the other polar end from WoW, way more risk/reward and based off skill then gear & levels.
Also, the sky, even in the videos (HD only) is spectacular.

I see, it sounds like a game geared towards player versus player combat. I might check it out, sometime. The game must be hard, I was reading some comments about it and people were saying there is no leveling. You just grab a weapon from the start and go.

The level where you had to ride that aircraft/motorcycle thing and jump over all of those pits and barricades and shit. That level was gay as hell.

Use a ramp to jump over a pit, you happened to jump too high and get caught on a "break" in the ceiling the screen rushes past you and then you die, the hell kind of shit is that?

Another hard game is Final Fantasy Crystal Defenders. Play it without looking up strategy guides. That game can take forever to beat.

This one super old ass game for the sega master system called Wonder boy in monster land.:sman:

World of Wacraft you need 25 people to kill some pansy or a lady xD
/sarcasm off
Honestly Brothers in Arms was hard, really good game when it comes to difficulty.
Crap, hard for me to choose, I've never played something extra hard... Some missions of original Starcraft were pretty hard. Devil May Cry 4 without usage of stars/holy water is hard on Demon Hunter level, also special mode (Bloody Palace or how was it called?) is pretty hard after Berial.

Forget all this new stuff, the first 7 megaman games were ridiculous XD. I think either 4 or 5 was the worst.

Like the mission where you have to blow up either the nuclear missile silos or the ghost operative plants, but they already have a million bases set up so they just come and nuke the shit out of your base?

Zombie's ate my neighbors was a fun game. I never beat it though. Seeing as how I do not think you could save in that game? Once you died you had to start all over.

Long post:Pretty much. I suppose I should say there is no "Character levels" but there are skill levels to tie in with player skill. So anyone can pick up the "Super l33t sword of dragon teeth", but only those who have focused on swords can put it to the best use. At the same time you're not restricted, so if you're bored of playing a "Warrior" you can use the same character to specialize into magic or archery, or crafting, trading off fighting skills for them.
There's also this whole "Primary/Secondary" skill system that isn't in yet, but the effect will be a capped level of primary skills that sets your character, can be unlearned at any point and "leveled" back up. The secondary skills have dependencies in the primary skills and other secondary skills, but they don't have a cap and you never lose them.
A good example would be in this picture:
http://www.mortalonline.com/files/attributesskills/AttributesAndSkillsOverview.jpg
Let's say you forget thievery as a main to pick up something else, you lose stealth. However if you drop acrobatics you lose hiding, riding, sneaking and stealth until you pick acrobatics back up and re-learn it to the prerequisite point.

The best part of all this is that because gear is far more trivial then the WoW style "Epic hat of X boss", the fact that the game is open PvP and open loot does not hinder it too much. Average equipment can be remade in a matter of minutes. Starvault is really aiming for MO to be a spiritual successor to UO, pre-trammel

Hard to describe but will be really fun if they do it right.

I don't know if it was because I played it when I was fairly young, or if it was solely the blasted desert part, but Breath of Fire III was pretty tough for me.

That game was really fun. Isn't that with Teepo and Rei? I got up to the part where you fight adult Teepo and quit playing.

Yea, some parts of the game were pretty hard.

One of the most confusing/hard games at the same time was the first resident evil....that game was soooooooooooooooooooooo looooooooooooooooooooooooooooong!

It wasn't really "hard" but I died a million times when I played it the first time. Just to traps. Like grabbing the shot gun off the wall thinking it was all good and then all of a sudden the ceiling mashes me. Or walking by the fireplace and getting eaten by that giant snake.

yeah RE1 was still old school hard. before there were 'difficulty settings'. before there were save points. hardest games were 16 bit at most.. best were 8 bit - ninja gaiden. galaga. videogames used to rely soully on quicktwitch thumbs. asteroids was a hard ass game.... speck

Someone on one of the early pages said Fatal Frame 3, I definitely concur. That game is just scary as hell, and even when you build up the courage to play it it can be quite difficult at times.

Other games that come to mind that have been mentioned already:

Ninja Gaiden, obviously
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Master Quest (original wasn't TOO bad, but MQ was a bitch, I don't think I ever actually finished it)

One other one was Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. Without a doubt the most difficult in the series, and one of the hardest games I've ever played.

Oh my, such memories.

I never even took into consideration standard arcade games. I am awful at playing them, but excluding that I still thought they were a real bitch to play.

I had a friend sit down and beat MQ on "hard" mode (named himself "LINK") while doing the 3-heart challenge.

Yeah definitely Metal Slug games.

I bought the Metal Slug Anthology that has all of the Metal Slug games for the PS2. You have infinite continues, and I still get the crap beat out of me.

In one of the games I remember one of the bosses is like Death or something with this Scythe, his attacks are impossible to dodge. He basically does an attack on the whole screen.

Anyways,...try playing Demon's Souls.....it's pretty difficult if you're dumb like my roommate who couldn't figure out that blocking took up stamina...:suspicious: Oh, and virtually every boss has to be kited and shot with arrows....:suspicious:

Your starter has to be shiny, too.

Meaning you have to restart the game until you get a shiny Chikorita.

:lol::lol::lol:
just played ninja gaiden sigma 2 demo on the hardest mode, and lets just say my ass was handed to me a numerous amount of time but somehow i enjoyed it, maybe its because i had company too lol around with.

but that game is a serious joke played the first sigma on ps3 and it basically makes u not want to play video games for a while especially if u have no experience on on action games with every enemy equall to grimmjow when your just a measley shinigami, and bosses that make aizen look like spongebob

cant think of the hardest game but it was probably fifa 95 on my sega megadrive (genesis 2) when i was 7 years old, back then it just hurt.
