Demigod is a new game from Stardock entertainment and Gas Powered Games, it's set in a mythological time of battle between hero's, demons and gods. Those of you familiar with the popular Warcraft 3 map, "DOTA" or Defence of the Ancients may see a resemblance between it and Demigod's gameplay. In other words striving for control of the map whilst battling against enemy heroes, minions and fortifications.

Outline of the story:
"Near the end of the 87th migration, when the minions of Hel-Gorgath were in rebellion and the balance between light and dark was under threat, the Ancients convened a Gathering. The Gathering found that one of their own, the so-called God of the Progenitor, had intervened by sharing Names and Ways with his underlings and allies on the other side of the Veil.
In punishment, the Ancients cast down The Progenitor from the Deep Places and all of the beings in his ken were laid low and utterly destroyed.
The Ancients, known as Gods to mortals, therefore sought a successor. It was known that the Progenitor had many offspring, begat by mortal consorts, who retained sufficient divinity to stand for Induction. But, not all agreed, for some were offended by the obscene co-mingling of Essences, crude flesh, and the rank perversity of the Progenitor's dalliances. For this reason, a game was proposed for the offspring to prove themselves worthy.
So it was made to be that messengers were sent to the Dark and Light Places to summon the pretenders to Rokkur. There, they would throw down their brothers and sisters in the arenas to win the favor of the Ancients and ascend to their ranks."

So I was at a LAN yesterday and one guy there had a pirated copy of the game, well we all copied it and started playing and I was just blown away by how awesome this game is! (I do plan on buying it now btw >.>)
Anyway, every hero or "demigod" has an amazing number of different skills and abilities, you can even choose between a assassin type hero who specializes in killing other hero's, or a general who controls minions, making the gameplay somewhat like a small scale RTS experience.
Another thing that greatly impressed me was the look of the game, the graphics are absolutely marvellous, all the units are beautifully animated and the maps are of a spectacular scale.
In addition to the eye candy and impressive number of hero's and spells the gameplay also doesn't let up. With the addition of "flags" you not only battle enemy hero's, minions and towers but also for control of these flags. When your team captures a flag it has a positive effect for your entire team (+15% attack speed for example) and/or a negative effect on the enemy team. So in essence the more of the map you control the stronger your forces becomes.
This gameplay may sound somewhat linear to some, but believe me it's immensely exciting. To check out more details of the game visit their homepage.
