Aside from assumed 4th squad healing duty, Isane is also frequently seen using 'mass communication kido to quickly relay information. Her zanpaktou has only been seen released once during Ichigo's appearance at the execution grounds. Unfortunately though, she was quickly knocked away by Ichigo after the release. Isane is also the older sister of Kiyone Kotetsu of the 13th division and is devoted to her sister as well as her captain Retsu Unohana.

How about we start out by discussing what it is we like about Isane. I like her personality. She is quiet and loyal, but also capable of strength and bravery. I also like her appearance, particularly her hair.

hmm, well I love how she's very soft spoken and can understand and rationalize a lot of things, such as her figuring out about Aizen...though she did have her captain's help, she still questioned how Aizen was able to deceive them all for so long using his zanpakutou.

I also like that she looks up to and can admire the traits found in her subordinates, such as when Hanatarou was punished for helping Ichigo, she said that she admired his determination and the fact that he was willing to stand by Ichigo despite him being the enemy of the soul society.

and yeah I have to agree with you, Isane looks great, she's got a good body, but doesn't flaunt it, and is rather conservative, and her hair is rather awesome as well...short but very cool.

All-in-all a wonderful character in my mind.

Indeed, like you two put it already... She's kind, loyal, and got a hot body but keeps it classy. The hair is different and on any other character would seem ridiculous, but she wears it well. She has a calm, happy attitude kind of like Unohana but with a bit more spunk. When Renji was running off with Rukia, Soi Fon shouted for all the lieutenants to take chase yet Isane turned back to Unohana first with kind of a, "wait, should I" type of look like she really cares. She and Unohana seem close and of course she's a caring big sister to Kiyone (who unfortunately is an annoying pain).

Well i like Isane because she's soft spoken and quiet (like me), she is loyal and kind to others, also a spunky yet happy attitiude. But she also has Strength and Bravery on a level you wouldnt have thought she could have, also she has a unique hair style that i love ^^

How about we theorize what Isane's shikai is all about...

As much as we've seen and know about her zanpaktou is the name, release, and we got one pic in existence of it's looks.

Judging by the name it would most likely be another "ice type" and although Isane is in the 4th squad, I think her zanpaktou is still meant for attacking. Considering Isane's use of kido, I think her zanpaktou, aside from ice element, is a kido based weapon. As for Ice types, her's wouldn't be anywhere near as strong as Hitsugaya's, but I think it'd be on par (if not better) than Rukia's. The only evidence of Isane's skill atm I would say was at the sougyoku hill. When Ichigo quickly dispatched the lieutenants, Isane could follow Ichigo's speed and see what he was doing until amidst a "WTF daze" was owned by Ichigo.

I'll give you that, she is better than Rukia.. and as for zan the name suggests it to be ice type or perhaps a mixture of kido aswell.

Isane's zan is definitely an ice type zan, so I think that given how readily Isane goes to attack, she is more than likely a fighter, I mean at sougyoku hill she went to attack ichigo and was the last to fall out of the 3 lieutenants, and in my mind it was a bit of plotkai that ichigo was able to own 3 lieutenants so quickly.

and we also see Isane go and prepare to attack against the execution squad in Hueco Mundo, and only stopped when Unohana ordered her to back down, so I think she has the necessary fighting skills, and she is definitely a pro when it comes to kidou, so though she may be a major healer, that's not all she can do.

Isane definitely has decent combat abilities, I think it shows in her confidence to join the fight. The big question at hand other than when might we see her fight, is WHO will she fight? There's only 4 espada left now, 3 of which are fighting a group of captains already in FKT, and Yammi is about to face another little group and assuming he beats them all it'll still be likely that a captain in HM will take over that fight then.

I don't remember for sure now, but the last time we saw Isane at all was when she was with Unohana healing Chad and the arrancar, right?

I wonder when Isane became a VC? I found out on wikia, that during TBTP arc, the VC of Unohana was Yamada Seinosuke, a relative of Hanatarou. She and her sister are Shinigami for more than 40 years. Any clues?

Interesting, that does raise interesting questions... When did Isane become the lieutenant, and what happened to Seinosuke before that? Isane could have been in the 4th squad in the TBTP arc possibly, but just not promoted until later.

My first guess would be she'd join the 13th with her sister. Something like 5th or 10th would seem reasonable still, but not a chance for 11th or 12th.

3rd, because she seems like she would fit in with Kira and Ichimaru, and it also seems like Isane would take every death personally like Kira said the 3rd does.

6th, because Isane has the same proud aura as byakuya, but she's more down to earth like renji is, and I'm sure that she would be an plus for the 6th division.

and I can see the tenth like mmz said, cause she would fit with matsumoto and still be respectful to hitsugaya as the captain.

You know, when I stop and think about it, I think Unohana/Isane have a better Captain/Lieutenant relationship than any of the others. Much more friendly and with a mutual respect you could say.

Yamamoto isn't exactly the close buddy type
Soi Fon even thinks of Omaeda as a retard
Gin betrayed everyone, nuff said
Aizen essentially tortured and tried to kill Hinamori before betraying everyone
Byakuya has little to no respect for Renji
Konamura is debatable, but for starters he's not even human
Shunsui is a perv, so who knows what else goes on. lol
Tousen betrayed everyone, nuff said
Hitsugaya finds Rangiku annoying a lot of times
Ukitake doesn't even have one anymore
and Mayuri has done and said so much to Nemu it's ridiculous!

That said, I think Isane would also work better with other captains too like Hitsugaya, Byakuya, and Ukitake than the lieutenants they have now.

I doubt Isane would chase Hits around like that, so Hits would have nothing to complain about either. Isane is much more elegant or "higher class" than Renji hence I think she would do OK with Byakuya. Ukitake probably would be best, but he'd really be best for anybody for that matter since he's the guy that gets along with everyone. lol

I mean Isane is the type of person that knows when to follow orders and when not to, she's smart enough not to follow Hitsugaya around like Matsumoto has too, and at the same time, she also knows when she's needed, for example in Hueco Mundo when Byakuya was fighting zomari, Isane showed up, but she hid her presence with kidou and stayed out of the way of the fight which is why she could work with byakuya or hitsu, and I think we can all agree that Isane is very level headed and would get along great with Ukitake.

Truthfully, i wouldnt change it at all. (score +1 for KT) Its got my favorite color combinations, additionally it is so perfectly contoured that it has a look as if it was tailor-made.

IIRC it was said before that Hisagi was the strongest VC (not sure if it was officially said), but I'd like to think that Isane is still a 'top-tier' VC. (As for Hisagi again, I'm not sure because Renji is the only VC to have a known bankai as of yet).

Plus Ikkaku has BanKai, but still I think Hisagi is stronger than them two. But, Isane definitely will have some skill in the battlefield.

Hisagi's shikai wasn't even a 'hax' like some. It's just a "rip your face off" power. lol

As much as we know is that Isanes zan is an Ice type, so it'd definitely be for battle rather than healing. Wonder what the chances are for Isane to give us a "WTF moment" and have a bankai as well.

Eh, I haven't seen enough of her to make a clear judgement...Although I think she's a great Lieutenant for Unohana so I'm pretty sure she's a tough one (Even if she looks kind & shy...) and probably she's still hiding her true powers/abilities...And I'm interested in what her Zanpakuto can do...Only time will tell...

Emmm...Well, for the moment I can't really tell...Maybe she won't get involved in fights cus she will be busy helping Unohana to heal the injuries...I dunno...

Yeah, this little FC is moving along nicely considering Isane has had so little screen time over the series. We're at 15 members already and this should be post #112 now. ^.^

hmm, just randomly guessing here, but I think it may be a female like Isane but in contrast for irony's sake she'll be short. Maybe in white and blue 'puffy' clothes to look like a cloud too.

well I don't remember Isane having a designed Zanpakuto, I mean we know it's release and it's name, it's Itegumo (Frozen Cloud) but it wasn't given a humanoid form yet, so I don't think we'll get to see her fight her zanpakutou, though I wish we would get to see it, and I thought it was funny at the end of episode 238 or so, where Ukitake gets lost in the 4th barracks and runs into Isane and she starts showing him around only to run into Kyouraku who is also lost but walked into Unohana's bedroom earlier.

Well, I think we might be back in HM soon (All the espada should be finished before the Aizen battle begins, hence back to Yammy), so Isane might be seen some more.

Though I'd love to see her in that battle, I'd guess to say that the captains will be going after Yammy while Isane and the other lieutenants will be on healing/support duty.
