Manny Pacquiao VS Floyd Mayweather Jr
Manny Pacquiao against Floyd Mayweather Jr. back on track? (http://weblogs.newsday.com/sports/boxing/blog/2009/06/manny_pacquiao_against_floyd_m.html)
With Bob Arum negotiating a fight between Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto for November 14 and the Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Juan Manuel Marquez fight back on for September 19, A Pacquiao-Mayweather fight is now a realistic option for early 2010.
I want to see the fights in September and November...

Pacman won. The Puerto Rican boxing failure lost.
Next Mayweather vs Paquiao (That's where the big money pot will be.)
Edit: Too predictable.

^agreed. speed was a factor, but damn, pac is strong as hell. and he can take a punch, which most punchers cant say. he's gonna outlast mayweather. i wont say beat ass, but he'll win. the sickness

Yeah speed and like you said Pacman was to damn strong. What a ridiculous stamina and endurance Paquiao has, because Cotto landed some pretty strong left punches in the face and also some body punches too on Pac, but Manny kept going. Cotto is fucked he probably has 2 more fights left in him.
Before this fight I was thinking that Mayweather would defeat Paquiao, but seeing how he clean the floor with Cotto, makes me think now that he has a pretty big chance in winning against Mayweather.

saw a bit of pacman before, but never saw him get hit like this - and cotto is a strong man, he shrugged everything off and kept coming, the combos from crazy positions were rediculous. that fight HAS to happen. o/w mayweather's legacy will always be asterisk'ed

Cotto is strong but once he gets hit hard his performance gets affected real bad.
I agree about Mayweather's legacy.

will be a good fight, although would like to see floyd like 3 years back vs pacman. prime vs prime

Pac is in his prime, and he did prove it tonight. Mayweather is a great boxer, but not the best welterweight that has ever stepped in the ring. Pac is in a winning streak and I have a feeling he will beat Mayweather in that streak.
manny made history tonight...that was a entertaining fight to watch.
cotto started losing his steam after 4th round and pacman got ended up chasing him around the ring for the remainder of the fight.

^agreed. the heavyweight div is still in shambles, no charisma. manny is like watching a mini-tyson. he's that explosive. that was the most entertaining fight i can remember watching (at least first 6 rounds) in awhile. pac - maywheather will def happen, it will prob break PPV records as the legend grows
Manny vs Floyd would be a epic fight, but I seriously doubt Manny would win.

really? i don't know, floyd isn't in his prime anymore. pacman hasn't been challenged in his last 3 fights against top opponents. if anything, it might be lopsided in manny's favor, although would say it is always difficult to say in boxing.

If Mayweather does win it would shut some people up who talk about him.

Thing is Floyd usually has a speed advantage over a lot of his opponents whereas Manny is just as quick and stronger. So it's not as if he can back away all night, he's going to have to actually fight Manny, which will be a disadvantage for him.

Pacman v Mayweather is the one fight in boxing that NEEDS to happen. Both guys are ridiculously talented and both fight with different styles so it would be very interesting to see who comes out on top. Plus the hype and publicity generated from that fight would be a real boost in the arm as boxing has been fading from the public eye ever so slightly in recent years.
In fairness there has always been a fair amount of boxing on tv over here in Ireland and with David Haye beating Value the BBC over in England have been giving it a load of attention again, which can only be a good thing
