New Tarantino movie. I'm excited as hell. Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction are two of my favorite movies ever, and I enjoyed Kill Bill as well (despite the completely ridiculous and laughable special effects for blood).
Inglorious Basterds comes out August 21 in America. This is the first time I can remember looking forward to a movie in a long time.

Hell Yeah this movie looks great. I am waiting for it. Tarantino's point of view about war, that looks pretty interesting.

I heard it got slammed at cannes on a pre-release viewing but i reckon it still could be good entertainment.

Brad Pitt's accent does bug me in the preview. It just sounds terrible. I didn't read all of that article, but I also heard that some people didn't like the chapter title screen interruptions, though it's something Tarantino does often.
One other thing I don't like about movies that have a Hitler assassination attempt in it is that you know they're going to fail. It's not even a prediction, just common knowledge. It would've been better to use a high ranking fictional Nazi General, or something along those lines. I'm guessing that the Basterds are going to end up getting close to killing Hitler in their plan, but they're all going to end up dying.
I'm still looking forward to it though.
Certain magazines have called it an "Iron-clad turkey", but it's mostly positive critical reactions.. I've got a friend who'll be seeing it at the festival in Montreal soon, I'll put more faith in her reaction.. But it seems far too long, the cut making it into theaters is longer than the one shown at Cannes by a few minutes.

It looks good to me. I like most Tarantino movies plus I love Brad Pitt's acting, no matter if that article said it was his worst performance lawl.
I'm really considering to go and watch this movie! I love Tarantino, he's movies are great!

Heard that it's an "art film" and one that you don't really immerse yourself in but view from an outside point of view. Sounds like a film that you can't really have fun with.
It'll have pretty mixed opinions, and somehow I don't think it'll be the masterpiece and achieve the cult status that Tarantino is envisioning.

Its good, very well acted, despite brads bad accent, a few naff uneccessary parts (the scene with churchill) but alot of good stuff in the film. I treated each chapter like a different short movie so that way it didnt drag. The dialogue in the opening scene is immense and as i said before the acting is mazin especially the passive agressiveness of the nazi captain (even though this does become a bit of a gimic as a the film goes on). If you know old war and cowboy films as well as i do you find it fun to work out which shot and which music used is from which old film.
Overall dont let the press put you off, be awake and not over hyped, it is by no standard a bad film, you just have to be ready for long scenes.

chruchill scene uneccessary and naff? My good man the churchill scene positively the most delightful part of it! Mike Myers was fantastic, but the guy who played Hans Landa completely stole the movie, he was the one carrying it throughout the whole thing. Brad Pitt looked positively weak alongside, except for his hilarious deep southern drawl "BONJOURNO".
Worth going and seeing? yeah. worth ranting about? not so much.

Quentin Tarantino's "Inglorious Basterds" was neither bad or a masterpiece. It is a film you think that it will be great, but when you actually see it you will notice that this film had some scenes that where not needed and they are the real factors in which it will lead a lot of people saying that the film had either a little bit of unnecessary dialogue or the runtime was too damn much. The film started with an incredible and outstanding opening (Chapter 1), it did continue showing an interesting and captivating story-line, just after the end of Chapter 2. The film continues forward Chapter 3, a chapter that had to many unnecessary elements, you will notice that it doesn't follow it's original course of what this film is supposed to be, instead you get unnecessary scenes and characters and a mini biography of the Nazi cinematographer, Joseph Goebbels in this chapter. Those where things that could have been easily avoided in that chapter, resulting in creating a better one or instead deleting the whole thing and moving forward with the film.
Like always, every actor tries to act really hard when they get an opportunity to be involved in one of Tarantino's films. Every actor in this film was great, they did an outstanding job in creating memorable characters. But sadly the actor that did stole the show in this film is called Christoph Waltz, he plays the role of the infamous "Jew Hunter" Col. Hans Landa, a Nazi Colonel. Waltz was superb in this role and even created a character not to be forgotten in the future of films.
Every time Tarantino creates a film except for his downfall in "Death Proof", every film he creates has an amazing soundtrack. Well this film's soundtrack is something not to be reckon with, because the music and sound in this film is a masterpiece. All the music and sound you heard fitted with the visuals.
A fan of Tarantino's work, but like stated before this is not his best but also not his worst, if you like films and are willing to watch one that lasts 153 minutes with scenes and dialogues that are not necessary in the plot, then enjoy and have some fun.

My only beef with it was it was a little bit too drawn out in almost every scene there was but when it got good, it got fucking good. It had just the right amount of comedy and action for me but with that drawn out shit I have to give it a 4 out of 5. I still love you though, Quinton.
