Oh, that boy. Soujiro was pretty awesome, but also pretty messed up.

I really liked the Kenshin x Tomoe pairing, although that was only in the OVAs. And no, Shishio was definitely not the last guy Kenshin beat in the anime. He later went on to beat some German dudes, some guy who used his same technique who looked like Jesus, and some geomancers.

I'm pretty sure I hated Tomoe when Samurai X was still famous. I don't know, the movie with Tomoe just annoyed me. I like Kenshin more with Kaoru.

Soujiro would have pwned kenshin if it wasnt for his mental breakdown, he didnt even go full speed at him.

Saito is definately the best character in the anime, bit of a shame he got pwned by shishio, i mean shishio was shit,really shit

I didn't like Tomoe at first, but she's definitely grown on me. A lot.

@En: I think the title of "ultimate opponent" is very debatable. If by "ultimate" you mean last opponent, it was those geomancer peoples in the anime and Tomoe's brother, Yukishiro Enishi in the manga.

If by "ultimate" you mean most important, I'd argue that it was Shishio, if only because about 1/3 of the entire anime series built up to that point.

@roez97: Yes, that would be the Jesus dude - aka: Amakusa Shougo.

@Akuma: I agree. Technique-wise, Soujiro is superior. However, overall, accounting for experience and basic mental stability (hoo hoo), Kenshin wins. :smile:

man i so have to watch kenshin over again, its been so long. One of my friends actually got me hooked on it. one of the things i loved best about kenshin was the details they would go into about techniques/moves and weapons.

95 ep for the series and 4 ova episodes ...i sugest u watch the series first...ova is way better and u'll find the series boring XD

my fave fight scenes are Kenshins 2nd fight with Sanosuke and his fight with Jinei but i have only seen up to 15 so far.ok who's fighting style do you think is the coolest?

for me it would be Kenshin(obviously)
and sanosuke's (that big ass sword and his attitude when fighting with it rocks)

Aside from Kenshin's style, I actually found Saito's Gatotsu to be pretty awesome to watch. Sanosuke sucks later on, but eh.

And the best fight scene by far was in ep. 30-31 (I think); that 2-ep. fight between Kenshin and Saito.

The manga is really good. My friend had downloaded the whole thing and I poured through it in 2(?) sittings. Interesting how the manga and anime VASTLY differ from each other. And yes, Samurai X was awesome too.

I think that there are the scans at mangarooter but I'm not sure...since i buy the manga i don't look for the scans but I'm sure you can look on the site, there's a whole bunch of anime scans on the site. The only problem is is that if you want to save them to your computer you have to do it individually which can be a pain.

agreed! The battle with Soujiro was awesome but I also really liked the battle with Aoshi in Hoji's room, with all the shelves of books in the Kyoto arc I believe. That was an awesome battle that i think, showed Kenshin's true strength, not just brawn

I've started watching the OVAs (almost finished, was watching it on youtube)and I've already seen Reflection but i just bought the ultimate box collection of the OVA series -does happy dance- anyways, the OVA is awesome, one of my favorite OVA series so far. But i had the general idea of how he got his scar but when i found out how he DID get it, i was surprised.

i thought he got the entire scar from Tomoe and not just half of it. xD and the whole thing with Tomoe's fiancee really threw me for the loop

Wow, i've missed a lot! There is a movie actually, i bought it this weekend have yet to watch it though. The OVA's are about kenshin's past, about how he got his scar, about Tomoe and basically why he decided to become a rurouni. There are i think, six episodes of the actual OVA which is titled "Trust and Betrayal" and then there's the basic plot summary of what Kenshin goes through once he is a Rurouni, really basic summary and it gives away the ending. So, if you don't want to ending ruined for you, don't watch "Reflection". But "Reflection" has nothing to do with the actual OVA episodes in "Trust and Betrayal"

In the end of the anime, both kenshin and kaoru die. Both of some disease that starts to wear the body down and they both got these purplish bruises on their bodies that i guess weakened them. But Kenshin had the disease first and gave it to Kaoru after they were married.

But i know that reflection is more than likely different than the movie. I looked at my DVD's again last night and saw that the art on the cover of the DVD is actually Watsuki's art and not the OVA art so it is the RK movie, not a Samurai X OVA movie. But basically, Reflection is a summary of what happens in Kenshin's life once he becomes a rurouni, so you see him meeting Kaoru, etc etc. So it's nothing like Trust and Betrayal which is a story on his past as Battousai.

Hots, yes, Envy's ending it real. :odd:

Kenshin had this disease that he got from a war where he helped as he was asked by a high person to do so. So Kenshin doesn't want Kaoru to had that disease, but still she insists so now both of them have it. Even though Kenshin is sick, he was tasked to do another job to help in wars so he left... weak. Kaoru also had the disease and is now beginning to be pretty weak. Day by day she wakes up early in the morning to wait for Kenshin at the Pier. As Kenshin is starting to lose his scar (the scar means that he cannot forget Tomoe). But in the end when he is about to arrive, in the boat, a Sakura fell and he picked it and said Kaoru's name. They met and laid on the grass where Kenshin thanked Kaoru and he died. I don't think Kaoru died too though. Pretty sad ending.

First of all, never said it was the movie. That's the end of the Samurai X reflection OVA. I said that the movie was from the Rurouni Kenshin series, not the Samurai X OVA series.

Reflection and Trust and Betrayal are completely two different OVAs. which are different than the Rurouni Kenshin series. Trust and Betrayal, like wolf said, is about Kenshin's past and his scar, it's basically six episodes long. Reflection is a basic summary of Kenshin's life as Rurouni and about meeting Kaoru, Saito, Megumi, Sanosuke and the whole gang. It goes into really bare details about what happens after the Kyoto arc and also gives the ending to the series.

I read the 8th volume yesterday. Kenshin is my second favorite manga. Earlier, I said Bleach was, but I hadn't read Kenshin in a while so I forgot how cool it was. Anyway, that volume was awesome.

Then at the end of the volume, it just left a great cliffhanger. A sword through the mouth of the enemy. So awesome.

Yes, I have seen the first episode in Japanese. And, I have seen some episodes in English. Kenshin was the first anime I probably ever liked -- No, it was Pokemon, but 4Kids sucks so they don't count. LOL I watched it everyday when it was on Toonami some years back. I was 8 years old then, so I probably didn't understand it as much as I do now. And I just said I read the 8th volume on Saturday. XD I bought the first 7 volumes...It's my second favorite manga and I NEED to buy more. I think i'll buy them at my state's convention next year, when they're a $1.50 cheaper.
