Little tips and tricks..

I just started tryin out the whole Photoshop scene and I was wondering if any of you pros could give me any advice.
Also I'd like to hear how to make a streak of the background go over the picture, is there some sort of hidden technique or do you just brush a line of the color o the background and saturate, smudge, blur etc. it up?
Thank you in advance for all suggestions and such.. Still having trouble with uploading but I'll figure it out someday..

best you could do really is just search some Tutorials for Photoshop

Well you can create the brushed effect on a new layer and then just move that layer over you render layer, then you can just erase what doesn't look good on the brushed layer. Or you can use the other techniques of changing the effect of the render and then the layer underneath will show through. You have to be careful when you do that though because you don't want to change the render so much that you can't see it or it is no longer the focus of you sig.

what type of system do i use to make sigs? (by system i mean like do i use microsoft digital image, paint, idk a lot so some one please hep my ass)
