Here it is, the best show EVER gets its own FC, COWBOY BEBOP. This show is true greatness, all 26 eps were amazing and the movie is the best anime movie EVER.

I want to join. A friend of mine recommended it too, tell me if what he's saying is right.Cowboy Bebop is a great anime, one of my favorites. It's mostly episodic, but it has a number of main plotlines (namely the characters and where they came from) that tie in.

All the protagonists are bounty hunters living in space, since the show takes place in 2071 after Earth has become desolate. Spike Spiegel, the main character, is a former ______ (don't wanna spoil) who is a complete wise-cracking badass. He practices Jeet Kun Do (Bruce Lee's style of martial arts) and carries a Jericho 941 pistol (which I own ;p). He has a complete careless attitude, but there's more behind it that gets revealed in the series and the movies.

Next would be Jet Black, an ex-cop who owns the actual ship the characters live on. Jet is almost like a surrogate father or brother, depending on the situation, to Spike. The two both left their former lives behind and relate to eachother, but often butt heads over issues (especially since Spike ends up destroying things during a bounty hunt that kill the reward money). He carries a Walther P99 (same as James Bond).

Faye Valentine is a mystery at first. She's an impulsive gambler who ends up joining the boys without asking, and causes a good deal of trouble. Her and Spike are always trading insults, like brother and sister. Like the others, she has a complex past that gets revealed. She carries a Glock 30.

The last protagonist is Edward. She's a young girl who is a prodigy, able to hack anything. She forces her way on board and acts as comic relief, but doesn't cross that threshold that makes you feel like the show is watered down with her presence.

There's also Ein, the "data dog" that the government programmed for some unknown purpose ;p

Needless to say, it's a great series. It's got crime drama elements, comedy, sci-fi and also has a lot of parodies of pop culture. On top of that, the dub is excellent. My advice is to buy the first volume, watch all the episodes up to and including #5 (Ballad of Fallen Angels) and see what you think. If you like it, buy the rest.

And if you end up liking Bebop, try Gungrave also. Another excellent series, another excellent dub. They're two of my favorite anime. If you have other questions, feel free to ask.

but i think the end is great. the atmosphere in the end is really... ahh you know. in my opinion the series gets better at the end (it's great the whole time, but at the end even better^^). and the last scene when spike enters the syndicate's building is just awesome!

The syndicate was the equivalent of the CHinese Triads, a mafiaso organization, Vicious obviously has people inside loyal to him, thats why he was able to make that old guy bleed tears of scarlet.

Julia was there long enough to wake up Spike.

No idea about Faye and her bottle fairy.

and if u wonder if spike was dead or not u obviously didn't watch the credits. anime rule...always watch the credits of the last episode if its different than the standard ending. there is usually, but not always, shit at the end.

and to yuzuki...they left spike and vicious' pasts ambiguous and i actually like that, it leaves it open to interpretation. it makes it interesting, and it leaves some area to debate and so forth.

You can find the Japanese Subtitled version anywhere, but since you started in English, you might as well go to Best Buy, sign yourself up for a credit card and buy all the DVDs. It's not that much, only like 50 bucks I think. But for Bebop, I'd do it.

I don't think there are many sites that have the English Dub. At least in good/decent quality.
