err, lets see...my fav character is probably the penguin :P lol nah its asuka since shes gutsy and got balls unlike shinji who seems to think the world is against him and always ends up backing out of everything...tssh...

but was it me or did anyone else find this anime very confusing..there were some parts that were very cool yet kinda scary like when evangelion took control and a lot of sad moments (evangelion crushing shinji's friend who wasn't able to take control of his robot guy :P )
there was a lot of confusing things that weren't explained very well such as the angels...also the angel underground..and there was a HELL OF A LOT of times when shinji started having spasm flashbacks which i did not understand very well...

and sometimes it was confusing... some people say it's deep some say it's just weird. i don't mind. i enjoyed watching it...
especially the ends are controversial, but as far as i understand them they have the same meaning, but the "end of evangelion" has is more action...
i sometimes wonder if the budget was low at the end of the series^^

please let me In. I love NGE. About the series re-release as the movies. It's going to be really interesting to see how they're going to go about it. I hope that they don't completely change the plot because NGE's psychological trip to me was one of the best aspects. I also hope that they are really making a NGE live action movie. I joinedh.. I liked the anime - it was the first one I ever saw and by god do I love it. I find it very deep and emotional, it is one of the few anime that has made me feel bad for it's charachters.. Also I've found out a lot about myself because of the series.

i actually liked both endings, but in 25/26 i like most that misato doesn't die^^
though the film was animated much better. it really seemed as if the budget was low at the end of the series, and when they got more money, they made eoa^^
but if i understood it right the message is the same. but if you watch with someone who didn't see the series the film's better^^

Since I am not a member, I still will say: End of Evangelion was the better ending. It actually helped fix some of the plot holes, but not very much. Also, Rei's tits in the movie are the biggest you'll ever see.

I liked the original ending the best - since it was the ending I saw first.. Also there was the part in the last two episodes which showed how those kids lives could have been if life hadn't kicked them in the crotch a couple of times. (Gendo reading a newspaper and mumbling to his wife while Asuka tries to get Shinji up for school.. Absolute hilarity.)

I liked EoE too, since it was a little more straightforward without all the psychologic mumbo-jumbo and propably why most people like it better than the original ending.. Well, to me the psychology part was maybe the best part of the series.
The episode 26 is the better one of EoE, since it's ending has a really nice twist and of course because it's the final episode.

Actually, I think it'll be better without her. Maybe because it is like a different part of the story. This movie happens before Asuka arrives, so that might be cool. Plus Kaworu is my favorite character.

Shinji is an emo kid, who lost his mom right? Well he comes to work, and basically sees Rei, who looks like his mom. "FUCKING GENDO, TRYING TO MAKE A LOLI VERSION OF MY MOM!" Than he kills himself after becoming god, and being raped by a naked Rei and Kaworu, which would make a good three-some.

Well, on a bit shorter scale then.

My most favourite episode must be 09: "Both of You, Dance Like You Want to Win!", which IMO contains one of the most excellent fighting scenes in anime, ever. To refresh your memory, here's the scene. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9M1Wf8DU2UA)
The video is a bit choppy but you can always watch it from your own DVD's right? ;)

Other notable episodes I like would be 11: "The Day Tokyo-3 Stood Still", which has one of my favourite Ikari Gendo -moments along with the ep where he visits Yui's grave with Shinji. Eps 19 & 20: "Introjection" & "Weaving A Story 2: Oral Stage" and of course the original ending for NGE which happens inside Shinji's head. The EoE isn't bad either, on the contrary, but still somehow I preferred the more psychological ending.

Dub or sub?

I hate to say this, but I believe that the dub is better. I couldn't stand subs for this show.

The English voices are top notch.

Subtitles, as with all the anime I've watched. There are VERY rare occurrances that the dub is the same quality as the original voiceacting - and even rarer for them to be better.

And I just prefer listening the original language. I just simply can't stand dubbing.

Yo, I'm looking to join this FC. My favorite character is Asuka Sohryu Langley, not because of her typical bitchiness (even though, I never thought she was ever THAT bitchy) but because of the conditions she faced in her life. Her mom goes crazy and ignores her, her dad cheats on his mom, and her mom kills herself along with the doll she believes is her. Then, the only thing she has been able to succeed in, Eva piloting, is taken from her by the very inept Shinji, whose success has mostly depended on his mom. Though in the end, she proves she's still the most talented Eva pilot by owning the nine MP Evas (for about 2.5 minutes).
As for Rebuild, I'm a bit excited and I'm trying to avoid any spoilers before I can see a sub of it. I have some hope for it being good (or at least, good-looking) and even if it doesn't deliver, I'll still always have the original series and EoE.

I'm thinking those crosses are probably from when Zeruel attacked Tokyo-3 and shot it multiple times at once. It seems they will reach that event in this movie since the facial shots they have of Asuka, Rei, and Shinji near the end are all from that episode. But if they really are reaching that far in this movie, I'm expecting that a lot will be cut out from the series and maybe even a few of the less significant angels will be left out.

yes eva has so much it could do. i think adv should handle it pretty well though. i never really have been a fan of dub's but i think they have gotten it right most of the time. i can watch eva in English and my ears dont bleed XD

I like dynamics if the relationship with Asuka in it. On one hand Asuka does not want to realy on anyone and has that very independent and fiery streek but she wants shinji to be step up to plate and not be a cowered. I just love the complexity you ca have with the two.

plus it always bothered me that rei is a clone of yui so they are related somewhat. It is not major that much but it is kind of a little stickler

Well, propably because she had a boyfriend who she sexed in the series. Also, she's about the age of your average anime-viewers mother, making the teenage Rei & Asuka a bit more likeable. But Misato is cool, I like her. My fav charachter still must be Rei, something in her is just so fascinating.. Dunno what exactly.

Ooh, please do. That pairing was actually one of the few I supported, its just that I got a bit put off by all the complaints of incest.

I think people like her cos she seems like such a bland character on the surface, with her cold attitude and all, but once you look closer, she really is a fascinating character, with a lot of depth to her.

For example, her lack of emotion is not really a true lack of it, but rather an inability to express it, since she was brought up by Gendo who probably taught her that emotions were useless.

The first time she smiles in episode 5, I'm sure everyone was pleasantly surprised. That scene alone was one of my favourite in all the anime I've watched. It was so touching...

On the other hand, when she cries just before she selfdestructs her Eva in the fight against the 16th angel, I'm sure everyone who watched along felt her sorrow. For a character who supposedly was cold and distant, she sacrificed herself to save Shinji from the angel. I'd be lying if I said that I didn't almost cry when I watched that.

I don't know how it is even possible to make a character in an anime series convey such an emotion so lifelikely (sorry, can't find the words, hope you get the idea at least), but it was just so touching.

Whats your favourite episode?

I think I've already answered that.. Or at least have tried.. But my favourite ep, of all eps, might have been episode "09: Both of you, dance like you want to win!"
It has some important plot elements (like Asuka mumbling in her sleep about you-know-who), and the action in it is just great.

Yeah, that was a good ep. The manga interpretation differed a bit, but not too much.

My favourite was episode 22, the battle against Arael. It was kinda brutal on Asuka, what with the mind rape and stuff, but watching the Lance being hurled into orbit to take down the angel was incredible. Wonder how they'll work on that for rebuild.

I just finished watching the End of Evangelion I bought on ebay for like 15 bucks and it was just jaw dropping. The ending was just incredible like I don't even know how I should feel...I feel like i've been destroyed and remade. If anybody has watched the series and has not seen the movie you absolutely must. Also my death and rebirth movie is coming to which I already know is just a recap of the first 24 episodes plus the first part of the EoE movie, but it has a commentary done by the director of the english version and jason lee. I hear the commentary offers a lot of really good insight on different themes in the series as well is simply very interesting. I can't wait to check it out.

Yeah, that is the platinum one I have. Death and Rebirth, even though a recap, is incredibly good. Plus the classical music played in between each sequence. It's nice.

Yeah they are all great. And I can't wait for the new movies to be released althought it will be a while before we get a dubbed version if they even do dub it. I was suprised as to how good the dubbing actually was even the end of evangelion kept most of the original actors. (except for one, the guy that works in NERV with the glasses I forget his name but they replaced the original guy with some dude that sounded like ablack guy with a lisp. I thought that was pretty funny)

So I wasn't the only one who noticed the black guy with the lisp? Yeah, the dubbing is actually the best in English dubs I've seen. Followed by Cowboy Bebop and lastly followed by s-CRY-ed. DBZ had an okay dub. I hope they do dub the new movies, because I mean, my collection would be weird if they didn't.

And I'm sorry, but I have to constantly push when I watch this movie, that it's the best animated movie I've ever seen followed by Spirited Away.

Because you can't get high on Shinji in Spirited Away.

But if you had to describe Evangelion to somebody, without spoiling it, how would you do it? Because Hypothesis I could explain it to, if I could spoil a few things. Like why they aren't really robots, and the angels aren't really angels.
