Before she was the 4th company captain, Retsu Unohana was an ordinary Soul Reaper. She was deeply in love with a man from the Eleventh company. However, the man was killed by hollow. She tried, in vain, to save him. From that moment on, she vowed to become the best healer in 4th company. And she lived up to her vow, becoming the captain. However, she mantains a sad and quiet demeanor most of the time, never able to forget the one she couldn't save....
