Monster Revived
So, with Rick banned, all of his blogs vanished, which sucks, cuz there was a lot of quality in there. I can only attempt to bring back some of that quality, and it is the higher quality stuff. So here is the text of my first interview with Rick, with a few additions in maroon, and without a cockblister posting in between my posts.
Why don't you introduce yourself?
-Well, not that I need to say this, but I’m Vic, and I’m not really a nice person. What does that mean? Quite simply, unless you’re an attractive adult female, chances are, I’m not even going to recognize your miserable existence. I'm serious, I have absolutely no regard for your personal feelings, sexual orientation, religious orientation, its all meaningless to me. For example, a few months ago, some of us were discussing sports, and I pointed out how New York seemed to fail at everything these days. And some dumbasses got all upset cuz that day happened to be 9/11. And guess what? I didn't care at all, its not my fucking problem if you people are too stupid to not be able to define "context." I didn't apologize or back off, I believe I said it again actually. And its true, New York does fail at everything these days.
-What's your main outlook on Bleach?
Well now…I wish I had just stuck with blowing up ganados in RE4, cuz yeah, Bleach sucks. Of course, going into it, I figured it wouldn’t have much of a plot since it’s a shounen and for the most part shounens suck. (Kenshin and FMA mangas being prime exceptions) Most of the creators have an idea (NOTICE, that is SINGULAR, as in, ONE GOOD IDEA) and just run it into the ground, hence, inuyasha, DBZ, (insert shounen here). DBZ actually pulled it off for a few sagas and yasha lasted three seasons of greatness, and Bleach got one good arc.
So what the fuck happened? Well, Kubo Tite copied the wrong creator, actually, he copied him, but then, he decided to do things a little different, and…it failed…miserably. That said, why Kubo chose to mimick DBZ..I have no idea. Okay, granted, DBZ is legendary in Japan and the US. People say its overrated, well, maybe, but the Japanese love it. And here is where it goes wrong for most shounens, there is only one DBZ. Period. You can’t copy it, because the Japanese will say hey its like DBZ…but it doesn’t have Goku, therefore, it sucks. Exhibit A: Bleach.
So what is Kubo’s biggest mistake? Its simple. WAY TOO MANY CHARACTERS. Like, how many are there? 80? WTF? Not only that, he did a downright HORRIBLE job of introducing them. Its like, look, here are the starting characters, we have a bunch of school kids. But guess what? They are totally irrelevant. The actual main human characters will be introduced later. So why are you seeing the likes of Keigo, lesbian chic, flat chic that likes to fight, and school teacher? Shits and giggles, forget them, they aren’t relevant at all. Then here is the Kuwabara of the show, Kon. Like all shounens, there is a character that you are either really going to like cuz your 12 or your gonna hate cuz they serve no purpose. But don’t worry, after ep 16, you won’t see him, for like, 40 eps, and then when you do see him, its gonna be brief. And hey, here are the Captains of S.S, very important right? Well some of them will be, some of them won’t be, but I am just showing you them, you aren’t really going to see them do anything at all for another 15 eps. Oh and here are the Vice Captains, which again, will do very little for the most part. Then, skip ahead, here are some vaizards, there are a lot of them, but you only need to pay attention to two of them, the rest are irrelevant. And then we have the espada, who aren’t even the strongest hollows, showing them to you now, if your lucky, some of them might have a few lines in chapters to come. Few of them will actually fight.
What kind of logic is this? What exactly is Kubo getting this stupid idea from? Not DBZ, not hakusho, who knows. It fails. And before you say “well all shounens do that.” Uh, no they don’t. Not even the “barely shounen but not really” has this many characters. How should Kubo have introduced characters? One at a time, or maybe a few at a time, and for a perfect example…see Kenshin.
Kenshin is one of the best mangas ever, for the simple reason of it had outstanding characters and a great pace, the plot, excellent as it was, is not even the strongest attribute. The way that characters were introduced was perfect, first we had Kenshin himself then Sagara Sanouske, then Jin-e, then Shinomori Aoshi, then Saito Hajime, then Makoto Shishio, then Hiko Seijuro, then finally Yukishiro Enishi. All of these guys were badasses and we got to know each and every one of them when Kenshin fought them. They all had great entrances and Kubo really should have copied this manga instead of a legend that can’t ever be duplicated.
Am I saying that he should have never created all these characters? No, not really, but they definitely should have been introduced and used in a better fashion. And of course, we could do without a bunch of them. Some of them have only had a few lines, and will undoubtedly serve no purpose in the future. Kubo wrote himself into a wall with all these characters, fans want to know about every character in every show they watch and its just impossible for Kubo to dedicate that many pages to characters that barely serve a purpose. He probably…should have never created the rank of VC, that way, there wouldn’t be 12 characters that people would be demanding to know about. He should have stuck with Captains of a division and just had other officers in it, but not specifically a VC position that was supposed to be important. Of course its too late now, Bleach has already entered into a nosedive, (about 30 chapters ago) and I don’t see it ever pulling out.
In recent weeks, Kubo has seemed to notice the nosedive, but it remains to be seen what will become of it. One thing that does seem apparent is the Zaraki debate will finally be settled, and my longstanding stance of Zaraki being an upper-mid captain (like around 5th-6th strongest of the captains) will turn out to be true, despite all of the retarded counterarguments that failed at proving otherwise.
-And how did you get to BE?
Well my bud cracker did the scouting on Bleach and after bouncing around a few sites he came to BE. He was responsible for finding some good anime and he settled on Bleach. Hey, it was good at the time. So yeah, cracker brought me to it 2 years ago. I posted in the comments box, way before a post count ever existed, for like a year. People use to pose as dyne so much that he actually had to lock his name so no one could use it, pretty funny shit. We of course had some epic battles there, none of which happen anymore, due to the extreme lack of intellect there.
How did I come to the BE forums? Well it was all Aya, she brought me here, it took her three months of nagging, and I don’t know what actually convinced me to join, the rep the forums had on the boards, and continue to have, was pretty harsh. The forums were viewed as a home for a bunch of rukia loving faggots that did nothing but jack off to how great the show is. Wow, how accurate that was. Of course it didn’t help that the forums had that atrociously ugly rukia banner telling all intelligent beings to stay the fuck out.
-What were your first opinions about this place? Has the opinion changed?
Bad. It took like two seconds to figure out that the rumors of the membership being infested with stupidity were extremely true. Has the opinion changed? What do you think? Out of 14000+ members, the forums have like 25 intelligent people, none of which are in the rukia FC. This remains true, in the last month, there have been a total of zero new intelligent posters, both on the forums and the boards.
-Words of Wisdom/Ways to make the place a little better?
Well, duh. It seems to be everyone’s (except dyne’s) opinion that the Bleach FC’s are fucking retarded. And I think that section is a big reason for people disliking Bleach. The fans. Quite simply, fans out there have this fucking fantasy that at the end of the show there will be a giant orgy followed by a mass wedding. Hey guess what? NOT GONNA HAPPEN. Yeah, as I said, SHOUNEN. To the dismay of all the couples FC members, and the rukia FC, Bleach is not a Shoujo. It is not a romantic story, it is not a dating game, inuyasha had more romance than Bleach. Hell DBZ had more romance, characters actually got married and had kids in that show. Is that going to happen in Bleach? Hmm…nope. And if it does…guess what? The kid won’t be parented by Ichigo and rukia.
Yes, and lets not have random mod selection again, albeit my “Who is it gonna be” thread in Ops is one of the best threads in BE history, that clearly did not work. I of course was amused at how some people just went on this power trip, then got demodded and never showed their face here again, hmm…on second thought….that might have been a good idea, it did a great job of getting rid of some dumbshits. But seriously, there are like 4 mods left out of that group, and two of them are either inactive or here once a week. Of course, that’s more than some other old mods, but still.
And get rid of the noob lounge. Two reasons: No one gives a fuck about your bio, and it will cut down on the spamming. No one reads these noobs’ bios, they just go there say hi and leave, just for the one post. Pointless.
