What Men Want

Posted 05-16-2009 at 12:03 AM by Falariel
I was watching the movie 'Bewoulf' on t.v when i noticed something that made it somehow similar to the movie 'The Other Boleyn Girl'. The great men of these two movies showed only one weakness that probably caused the conflict in the stories; the weakness they have on women.

Let's study the case of our friend Bewoulfy. He just saved a kingdom from their monster, Grendel. But then, the monster's mother is haunting him, and he understood that he had to kill her as well. But he was seduced by Grendel's mother, offering him fine things, in exchange for his love. This resulted to another monster-son, that ultimately caused Bewoulf's downfall.

As for our King Henry, who was also seduced by the smart and witty Anne Boleyn, who tainted his image by forcing him to allow the divorce between him and his then wife, Catherine of Aragon, which marked as one of the most controversial marriages in the royal history of England. He did this out of his desire to claim Anne Boleyn for his own.

What is it with women that these men wanted so badly? going as far as risking their lives and kingdom for it. was it love or infatuation? also, does it happen for real?

it's funny to know how these men who had everything risked as much with one mistake for shallow reasons. it's not that women shouldn't be taken seriously, i mean we should be taken care of, and we expect that from men. but then, is seduction really enough to let themselves fall?

for now i still don't understand the principles of this confusing gender. And maybe we women are confusing to them as well, which is probably why we were able to trick them so easily. perhaps there's just simply more to it, and i have to venture deeper into their understanding of women.

Desire is a word that comes to mind.

Even the word itself is limiting. I knew your blog would be great.

Actually, the movie (Beowulf) does not reflect the original story at all (the events after Grendel's death are, well, Hollywood fan-fiction). Anyway, for your question, there will be no fun if someone manages to fully understand the opposite sex. It would take out all the unpredictability & randomness from human relationships, so ultimately, it would be detrimental to us. Lol.

yeah, that's the beauty of it. the mystery of the opposite gender is probably what creates the thrill and brings colors in relationships.

and yeah, but fan fiction or not, it's still literature anyway. human emotions shown there are for real, as far as i know.

Lol @ the comparison of historical fact versus hollywood fiction.

Historically speaking, Henry VIII's lust for a (legitimate) heir was far more powerful than his lust for Anne herself.

What do men want; personally I would want something that no other man can have and only I can obtain. I'll be honest, I want other men to be jealous if I had a woman that they wanted. That's just one of the many factors. My actions would be relative to my power. If I ruled a kingdom I would sacrifice that kingdom for a woman that I couldn't live without. If only had one piece of bread and I'm starving I would sacrifice that meal for a woman who is worthy of it.
