In some countries Christianity have negative influence on culture, but in not of all. For example my country was very tolerant for other ideas and religions even after converting. In my country lived many Protestants, Orthodox, Muslims and Jews. It's a pity that after 100 years of German, Austrian and Russian occupation, and then after 50 years of communism some of Poles are not very open-minded. But they are now minority.

Well, for an interesting perspective on the evolution of early christianity I would recommend reading this:
    The Closing of the Western Mind;
The Rise of Faith and the Fall of Reason
    written by Charles Freeman
    published by Alfred A. Knopf

Well, if would came at this world as muslim, it would don't bother me, cause I dislike any forms of alcohol.

And my opinion about Koran: it have less "holes" than Bible. Bible is in some parts so unlogical. And of course Islam is a real monotheism, not like three-in-one like in Christianism.
    So respect for Mahomet.

And to be honest, I'm 50% muslim. My family from father's side, converted on Christianity about 150 years ago, so I have Muslim ancestors. So even i don't believe in Islam, I'm pissed off when someone is insulting Muslims, cause it means that she/he is insulting my ancestors.

As a muslim, I am not allowed to drink to alcohol, so the being drunk part is a nono for me. lol But the FSM religion sounds wicked cool. I always love that they don't take themselves too seriously and just have fun with it.

Its really interesting, i'll post the "8 things i really rather you didn't" at some point.

After a very drunken conversation debate about religion I'm thinking of imposing a rule that all members must be drunk in this group.
I shall stay sober as I always do and mediate

It was created by a schoolkid when his school board chose to teach creationism in class "because we cannot prove god does not exist, therefore its on equal grounds to evolution theory"
The guy then wrote a letter to the school board, saying that he beleives the Flying Spaghetti Monster created the universe with his noodley appendage, and if creationism is to be thought, he demands that FSM is given equal grounds, as it can also not be proved.

The letter leaked online and became famous, now the guy has written a book (FSM bible if you will) and there's a big community grown around it.

FSM is a religion to show the absurdity of normal religions, the followers don't actually believe it, they're doing it to show up the absurdity of organised beliefs.

That said, their moral code is pretty good. Instead of the 10 Commandments there's the "8 things I'd really rather you wouldn't"
And their theory as to why there's good and evil in the world is that the FSM was drunk when he accidentaly created the universe, so you can't expect it to be perfect.

I don't think that I'm atheist, despite of fact that I'm in atheist social group on BE. I'm atheist in sense of negating religions with personificated god like christianity. I'm rather deisth or pantheist, cause I believe in a sort of mysterious impersonificated force, which influences and sets in motion the world.

And on the topic: In my country was a sect of fried potatoes worshippers, created by some third-rate alternative music band. Not as much famous like FSM, but similar in concept.

FSM actually has a good set of rules for a spoof religion. They make sense :)
