Kenpachi was able to grab Nnoitorra's weapon in a similar manner and considering that Byakuya wasn't really serious at that point, I'd say they'd have about the same power. It really shouldn't be that far fetched.

This episode was pretty good. I hope they show us Bankai Byakuya vs Patchless Kenpachi. I also hope they show Byakuya using some Kidou on Kenpachi. I imagine that this fight will get interrupted before it comes to any kind of conclusion though.

That was some good dialogue in the episode. I just liked the way Byakuya and Kenpachi were exchanging one-liners. Byakuya's cold as ever.
Here's a thought I've been having, it's probably been mentioned elsewhere though. Is Kenpachi's zanpakuto really his (from his soul)? I mean, we already know shinigami can wield swords that are not originally theirs(from their soul) like Tousen/Suzumushi. Suzumushi belonged to Tousen's dead friend.
So far it seems that before joining the academy, the characters dont have katanas. Sure, they all seem to have above-average reiatsu than the other Rukongai residents. We dont see any with katanas except for the brawlers(Kenpachi, Ikaku). Again, I'm assuming Tousen took his friend's before joining the academy.
Could it be possible that Kenpachi got/stole his current katana from some lowly shinigami he defeated/found dead? We know he's already totally hopeless at reiatsu sense and control. It could help explain why he cant even hear it scream it's name (Save Rukia arc)...he just doesnt have any real/personal connection with it to begin with.
It cant be in shikai form. It might still be a full-time release type though...just not released yet. He'd have to know it's name. Plus, if he picked it off somebody else it would just be a katana since it's expected it would just have returned to it's unreleased form if it's owner was dead/near dying.

Alot of people think similar to that, but Zaraki's sword is shikai, he's heard it's (his, as Zaraki refered to his sword as "him" vs Nnoitra) voice & is starting to connect to him now. Not knowing his sword's name means he can't use it's powers, but he has forced it into shikai.

He says it's his sword's "true form", and given in this arc Zans use their shikais as their main sword, it's most likely his is shikai too.

It's possible he uses the sword of someone else, unlikely though, as Tousen's already got that idea taken. But there is a difference between sword & zan. Tousen uses someone elses sword, but the Zan is part of his spirit, so it's his only. And some people, myself included, theorise that his zan is not the sword but the ring attached. Which explains why the sword never changes in shikai & bankai.

I think he's talking more of it's it final form so it's not getting any better. Idk man talking about this could go on forever but I doubt it's his last form of his sword.

Decent episode. When Yumichika finished his speech and passed out it ticked me off though...it's too cliche. Everybody is passing out T_T. He was speaking in a level tone before it...whatever.

Still kinda iffy on patch release from the first Soul Society Arc by comparison to this one. He blew everyone away here but got beaten by Ichigo's shikai back when. Oh well, it's filler. What can you do?

Oh ya, didn't he attack senbonzakura and make him go boom? There wasn't a scratch on him.

lmfao, come on. even ikkaku does it too.. and hasnt kenpachi done it in his fight with ichigo? i really think its just an 11th squad thing. get the last word in then youre allowed to pass out. gotta make sure you come out on top in all ways. hahahaha. i think its hilarious

indeed, it is a filler but its been quite a long while since the entry/rescue arc when that happened. kenpachi has had time to strengthen himself (though im sure all he needs to do is go out and fight a bunch of people in order to strengthen) its just how he rolls.

This is a common mistake. When Ichigo fought Kenpachi he had a power that he he won't be able to use again. In that fight he was fighting along with his Zanpakutou, because he hadn't made it submit yet.

In his fight with Kenpachi, Zangetsu fortified Ichigo's Reiatsu by adding his own. You should realize that, so far, that has been a one time event. At that moment, Ichigo's Reiatsu was bigger than it has been since. In Bankai, Zangetsu's gives Ichigo the power of speed and a stronger Getsuga, not huge Reiatsu.
