Sorry, beat ya to it. And no, the Shiba clan was the fifth noble family. After their descent into obscurity, no one replaced them. And to the above poster, the Omaedas are just a high-ranking family, not a "Four Nobles" family.

Didn't Ukitakke asked Kaien around this time if he wants to be his Vice?
So I was guessing that he had no Vice-Captain at that time...for a while

Re-read that page. He says "I'm a vice-captain"
He had already been the VC of that squad for a while from that, since apparently he keeps passing up the chance to become a captain.

Oh...really?I don't remember them being "the 5th", could you perhaps provide a reference?

Exactly, if i remember correctly there were only 4 noble families. I forget now which manga/anime mentions it. But they clearly say 4 noble families...

Yourichis, Byakuya's, Kaiens, and....they don't mention the 4th

I dont remember exactly where but hes right about there having been 5

When they talked about it they said there are CURRENTLY 4 great noble families and there used to be 5 before the Shiba house was removed

For your reference, http://bleach.wikia.com/wiki/Noble_families states that the Kuchiki and Shihouin families are the only known current Noble Houses, and lists the Shiba clan as the fifth, since deposed, Noble House.

Anyways, props to blackcrows for the effective transition from my post in the silhouetted vice captains thread to this.

So we're still stuck with missing Noble families...Even if you count the shiba's.

I get the feeling Kubo has forgotten about the Four/Five Noble Families. ^^;;

I'm not sure both of the missing families carry any significance to the plot...one might, but definitely not both. Still, the Isshin rumors are all over the place right now. Some people say he's related to the Royal Family, others say he is related to Aizen...some think he was the 10th Division Captain...some think he was a nobleman...and somewhere out there...someone still thinks his wife, Masaki, was a Vasto Lorde.

Her blade in sealed form is 12in. This power is limited to a small number (7 or less) and upon being slain by an enemy, the re-animated lifeform becomes permanently dead and cannot be restored again. However the exception to this is, if the wielder “destroys” the re-animated in a flame, they can become reborn at the wielders command for an indefinite number of times during the battle. Because of this, her power and her wielder's power are directly attached to each other, almost symbiotic of one another. Attacks Spoiler: Hi in Senrei (Baptism in Fire) The blade of Tenshi Kasei becomes wrapped in flames which then allows her to destroy a physical beings body to the point where the soul leaves, thus allowing her to then re-animate the ashes for use in combat situations. She can also use this attack to just destroy an enemy without using the resurrection technique. this release is designed to deceive the enemy by making them think the Zan has been released Ansatsusha Tenshi’s (Angel’s Assassination) Silent attack where Tenshi Kasei can attack from behind with a blade of fire slitting their throats, attack is limited to a 3 use attack because of reiatsu used. Because of the nature of this attack, it is both physically and spiritually draining on her wielder. However, this attack can be used at long distances, allowing her to virtually assassinate her enemy sight unseen. By doing so, she sends out a condensed fire “blast” at her enemy thereby slitting their throats..Bankai should she achieve it, has no limit on use and severs it's victims head, she would also be able to remove the head of her victim from a distance in Bankai.
