Where were the characters originally from?

The Gotei 13 is full of random characters that were origianlly alive in some country. They can't all be Japanese as many don't look too asian and some show signs that they may be British (former 1st lieutenant?), German (Kiske is a german name), African or Mexican (Chad) based on some characters skin color and personalities.

Anyone have a guess on where some characters are originally from?

Also noting that some may have been born in the Soul Society.

Believe it or not Japan has people of other ethnic origins living there too. KisUke is not a german name though. Then loads of other stuff is just anomalous (the dead 1st vc having British traits when quite clearly he was in soul society prior to Japan opening it's borders some 200 years ago etc).

It's Kubo, he just squats over the paper, pinches out a doogie and hands it to the printing press.

I know all that. This was just a fun topic to think about, not going outside the story and those were just guesses I chose. I wouldn't think that out of all the souls that go to society that only japanese people end up as soul reapers. I do see what you mean about 1st divion leiutenant though.

Souls can pro-create?

EDIT: the whole idea of procreation amongst souls- doesn't that spit all over the whole idea of 'balance' that Kubo always talk about?

I thought about this before. I think that souls being able to procreate makes sense and is crucial to the "balance."

The human population has been on a constant rise, which means that the number of souls in SS has to also rise to meet humans proportionally. When humans die, they end up in SS and vice-versa. So it's basically a reincarnation recycle. But that doesn't solve the population increase conundrum, meaning that there has to be an origin (pure creation) of souls. This could possibly be the souls that were born in SS first.

So when evil souls go to hell, do they leave the ballance between the human world and soul society since hell is in some different dimension?

Sasikibe went on a mission to the living world one day in England, that had an effect on the dude, which is why he has western traits.

Also when a soul is born in the soul society it is automatically given the rank of a noble, (a lesser rank of noble, but a noble none the less) Yup It happens, in Bleach a person can be born in the soul society, technically making them born dead. That's the origin of all souls, they all start as nobles in soul society.
Since the number of souls in soul society will increase because of that, it means that the shinigami will need to send extra souls over to the living world accordingly, hence why their is an ever growing population in our world, I guess that's what Kubo was going for.
A soul needs permission from the shinigami before being reincarnated, also a soul needs to have lived in soul society for at least 6 months before getting that permission.

Un no sono Hyō kami takes two forms,the inner world form,and the outer world form. His inner world form is that of two giant glowing grey-green eyes that look down at me from the above darkness. When he speaks his voice echo's thru the cavern. His outer world appearance is that of a giant etheral black panther.On all fours he stands 5 feet tall and 18 feet in length.When he moves,grey dust falls from his pelt making it seem as though he's surrounded by a cloud of dust. On my right shoulder is the head of the kasha which looks infused with my shoulder,The eyes of this head glow grey/green,and grey dust and reiatsu pour out of its mouth. In this mode I can choose to fight for 180 seconds with all of my abilities 10X's stronger,or I can choose to unleash the full power of my bankai in one final attack. With the final attack the head of the kasha moves down my arm from the shoulder taking all the hair,dust,and reiatsu collected on my body as I swing my sword,exploding off of my sword in the form of a giant kasha head which swallows my enemy and carries them into the air before exploding.
