Information on Kurosaki Isshin

Isshin Kurosaki (黒崎 一心, Kurosaki Isshin) is the father of Ichigo, Karin and Yuzu and head of the Kurosaki family. He runs their private clinic, the Kurosaki Clinic. A skilled doctor, Isshin can perform almost any medical procedure except major surgery.

As a doctor, Isshin is usually seen wearing a white lab coat. Beneath it, he wears a yellow shirt with an orange pattern on it. His Shinigami uniform is much like a normal one; the only glaring difference is that he wears what appears to be a captain's haori, worn like a sash over his left shoulder. However, it has no visible division insignia.

Powers & Abilities

When Isshin first appears in his Shinigami form, he hints that his abilities are on par with those of a captain-level Shinigami. He has a captain's haori draped over his left shoulder, using it as a type of strap or cape, which implies that he was once a captain in Soul Society. It is unknown what the extent of Isshin's Shinigami powers are (in Zanjutsu, Kidō, Hakuda, and Hohō). However, while he had not yet regained his full power, he was powerful enough to kill Grand Fisher before the imperfect Arrancar had a chance to even strike. Furthermore, the fact that Kisuke Urahara (a fellow former Gotei 13 captain) looked to Isshin as his equal implies that Isshin, at full strength, is a very powerful combatant.

Keen Intellect: While normally appearing goofy and oblivious in his daily life, Isshin has proven to be a highly intelligent man. He has repeatedly shown to be able to see the truth in any situation placed before him, as he immediately realized that Kon (while in Ichigo's body) was not Ichigo, and was immediately aware of Ririn, Kurōdo, Noba in the anime. Isshin has also shown to be a very knowledgeable, as he already knew about the situation with Aizen and the Arrancar. He is also quite crafty, as after discovering his son's new status as a Shinigami, Isshin began making preparations to aid his son, which included regaining his own Shinigami powers and protecting Ichigo's body with a barrier charm.

Expert Hand-to-Hand Combatant: As shown from his repeated comedic attacks on his son, Isshin is a very skilled fighter even when barehanded, further emphasized by how he personally played a part in training Ichigo. However, it would appear that Ichigo has long since surpassed Isshin, judging by how Ichigo usually ends up beating his father. It is likely that Isshin could be holding back to avoid harming Ichigo, considering that Ichigo initially wasn't strong enough to fight Shinigami captains, and it's now known that Isshin is at least a captain-level Shinigami.

Master Swordsmanship Specialist: Having only been seen fighting once, and for a few seconds at that, Isshin's skill in swordsmanship allowed him to effortlessly slice through Grand Fisher's giant Zanpakutō without losing any visible momentum, and still cut down Grand Fisher in the process, all without Isshin having to release his Shikai.

Immense Spiritual Energy: It has not been confirmed whether or not Isshin is a former Shinigami captain, Isshin appears to possesses a considerable amount of spiritual energy. Ichigo and Shinji were able to sense its strong presence from miles away. As Isshin stated to Grand Fisher, all captain-level Shinigami, are actively controlling the size of their Zanpakutō. If they did not do so, they would be swinging around swords the size of skyscrapers.

Kidō Expert: While it is unknown how well-versed he is in the art, Isshin has demonstrated capable skill in barrier spells. This is shown when he enchanted a lucky charm to protect Kon (while in Ichigo's body) with a barrier powerful enough to prevent an incomplete Arrancar with greater power than an average Gillian from attacking him.

Enhanced Endurance: Even without his Shinigami powers, Isshin appears to have the ability to take severe physical punishment (e.g., fighting with Ichigo, getting kicked by Karin, and being in close proximity to Renji's shotgun blast while the 6th Division lieutenant was masquerading as a police officer).

Jakarru Kami no kashira (Head of the Jackal God)

Jakarru Kami no Kashira is a 33" long Katana with a 28" blade and 5" hilt. The blade is black and curved more than usual, causing it to resemble a large sickle or hook on a shepherds crook. The Guard is a vibrant gold coloured octagon with Ankh's etched in to both sides at half centimetre intervals. The hilt of the katana is black to match the blade but wrapped neatly in a white, bandage like, material and topped in a gold coloured pommel cover.On the butt of the pommel cover is a small carving of a Jackals head.


Inner World:

The inner world is a desolate landscape of what seems to be white sand and rock. On closer inspection however the sand is revealed to be natron, a salt-like substance used to preserve mummies, and the rocks are the lower half of unused Canopic Jars made of calcite. A vicious wind blows through the landscape at all times, constantly changing the terrain and weighing the visitor down with a sense of dread caused by the thought that they may not escape. There is only one way in and out of this world and that is a black door, edged in a gold light, that is constantly changing position. Jakarru Kami no Kashira refers to the door as "The Souls Entrance" and only he is able to lead you to the door and to freedom.

The spirit of Jakarru Kami no Kashira is a small black jackal with a bandage around the neck, tied in to a bow. He is extremely silent and only speaks when he feels it is necessary for him to do so. His stare is somewhat unnerving, as if he is constantly weighing you up and deciding where to place you on his list. In stark contrast to his surroundings he is active all day, though more so at dawn and dusk, constantly gathering Natron and weighing it on his front paws. His calm demeanour and wise words earn him great respect and he will return that respect if he deems you worthy enough. The greatest form of respect he shows is allowing you to leave the inner world by guiding you to the door.


Shikai Release Command: Anatatachi wa hakaru, Jakarru Kami no Kashira (Weigh them, Head of the Jackal God.)

Jakarru Kami no Kashira changes in to a spiked black wooden flail. It is made from two pieces of wood that are attached by a white 3" chain, like an overly large nunchuk, and are extremely durable. The handle (For lack of a better word) is 1.5m long and 1.5" in diameter. The spiked piece of wood is 1m long and 1.5" in diameter. It is covered in gold coloured metal spikes that are spaced half an inch either side and run down to the end of the wood. The tip of the spiked piece is curved upwards slightly to form a crude tearing or grappling hook.

In Shikai, Jakarru Kami no Kashira gains the ability to increase or decrease the power of its attacks by altering the weight of the spiked pole on the flail. The heavier the spiked pole becomes, the more damage is caused but it becomes harder to wield. The maximum the wielder can carry effectively is 135lbs (roughly 61kg) though it can go higher. The only time the maximum weight would be used is if the opponent was significantly larger than the wielder.

Zenrei no Kachi (Worth of one's whole soul)

This ability allows Jakarru Kami no Kashira to peer in to the opponents soul and weigh it against the feather of truth. If the soul is lighter than the feather by a great deal then any damage caused by Jakarru Kami no Kashira will be miniscule, even if the wound would normally kill. The heavier the soul the greater the damage and if the soul is heavier than the feather by a great margin even the smallest cut can be turned in to a life threatening injury.

When this ability is used the wielder can see the soul being weighed by Jakkaru Kami no Kashira as a ghostly image in front of the opponent and can be seen by both opponent and wielder. It depicts Jakarru Kami no Kashira with a set of scales placed in front of him. On the right hand scale is the feather of truth and on the left hand scale is a blue light in the shape of a heart, representing the opponents soul. Once the soul is measured Jakarru Kami no Kashira returns to the inner world with the scales and feather of truth. In shikai the complete form of the opponent is needed to be seen, even if only for a second, in order for the soul to be weighed.


Bankai: Jakarru Kami no Genri (Fundamental truth of the Jackal God)

The wielder holds the flail horizontally across the chest and calls Bankai. There is then a flash of gold light and the Bankai is revealed.

The flail becomes a two headed axe on a gold coloured shaft, approx. 1.8m in length and 1.5" in diameter. The axes are positioned on each end, like the heads of a shovel, and crescent shaped. They're both a gold colour to match the shaft and engraved with a black Jackal head on each flat side. Approx. 14" in diametre they are razor sharp and extremely light, allowing for a faster swing or slash.

The wielders head becomes encased in a black metal mask in the shape of a Jackal head. They are covered from the base of the neck, all the way to the top of the head and ears and a snout protrude several inches in their correct places. The mask itself is covered in a fine gold filligree of swirls and ankhs whilst the eye sockets seem to glow a blazing white. Although appearing to be heavy it allows for fluent movement and all around vision, leaving no blind spots except natural ones.

The wielders clothing changes to a metallic gold skirt and halter top that exposes the midriff. The skirt itself is calf length and splits up the front to allow movement, with a simple black cloth hanging to keep everything covered. On the top of the skirt is a chain belt with charms made up of ankhs that matches an anklet on the wielders right ankle. The top is tied at the neck and back tightly to keep it secure and moveable and the wielder is left barefoot. On the wielders upper left arm is a simple gold armlet in the shape of a jackal.

The wielder gains a significant speed and strength boost, allowing them to move with the speed and agility of a Jackal and lift twice as much as before. The legs of the user are also inbued with strength allowing for kicks powerful enough to break rock and the ability to jump to extreme heights. (In testing the highest the user has ever jumped is just over 9m.) The abilities from Shikai are also boosted, raising the weight limit of the weapon to 270lbs (122kg) and allowing both ends of the axe to change weight. Zenrei no Kachi now needs only a split second glimps of any part of the opponents body in order to weigh the soul and the users reiatsu rises by approx. 70%.

Hantei no Omori (Weight of Judgement)

This ability brings forth the sense of dread that is present in the inner world of Jakarru Kami no Kashira. It presses down on the opponent and makes them nervous and jittery, instilling a sense of paranoia that can potentially disable the opponent. In the most extreme cases it can cause a state of live mummification, dry-freezing the opponent on the spot completely.


Fighting Style:

During the sealed state of Jakkaru Kami no Kashira the wielder uses a form of Ninjutsu that focuses on the use of Kama and Kusarigama. The aim is to trap and block the opponents weapons, disarming them or disabling them as quickly as possible. The sickled shape of the blade is perfect for this style and often catches opponents off guard as they expect the vicious looking blade to slash and rip. However due to the curve of the blade it is very difficult to slash and easier to trap weapons and limbs whilst still causing damage. Decapitation however is quite suited to the blade.

During Shikai the user switches to a mix of Bojutsu, the Okinawan style centred on the use of a six foot staff, and Tahtib, an Ancient Egyptian style that is focused on head shots and distraction, often being flamboyant and graceful. The spiked flail that completes the staff is the perfect distraction method, the opponent often too busy focusing on what they consider to be the dangerous end and forgetting about the range of the handle itself. This allows the wielder to fully utilise both parts of the weapon for both attack and defense.

During Bankai the user once again switches styles. Whilst keeping the use of Tahtib they forgo the Okinawan Bojutsu and replace it with the Northern Chinese Staff. This allows the user to focus more on cutting and swinging, whilst at the same time defending and aiming for the vital areas such as the head, rib cage, stomach and back in order to cause the most damage. The users increased speed, strength and agility also helps with this style as they can still attack from unusual positions, never wasting a movement, being quick on defense and increasing the power of their strikes.

During all three states the user rarely uses Kido and if it is used it is more of a distraction method or lure in order to set a trap. Any hand to hand that is used is centred on the Wushu style, using the wielders flexibility and initiative to the greatest advantage they can.

A wolf the size of a large horse. He has yellow eyes, a long snout with a large mouth filled with large razor sharp white teeth.
He has dark grey fur with a black streak running over his head from his nose to his ears. The rest of his head and his paws are covered in a light blue fur that's almost white.

A dark cave made from black rock with stalactites hanging from the ceiling. Ulf is in the centre chained to the floor. Watching me with his yellow eyes and hoping that I will be careless and come close enough to bite.
The chain is thin, made of black metal and fastened to the ground with rings of the same colour.

Ulf sometimes speaks to me telepathically with an unearthly low voice sounding menacing with each word.

A 100 cm (39") double edged sword with a basket hilt ending in a silvery wolf's head. The blade appears to come out of the mouth of the wolf.
I carry the blade in a black leather scabbard on my back.

fighting style:
My fighting style with the unreleased blade is combination of Zanjutsu and Hakuda. I wield Ulf with one hand and kick, punch, grab and throw my opponents. My favourite tactic is to grab my opponent and throw him off balance while I get behind him and stab to either the back of his neck or his spine.

- Yla Ulf (Growl Ulf)

appearance:

A 150 cm (60") double edged blade with a 30 cm (12") handle. It has a simple steel cross guard with a bright yellow gem set in the centre. After the guard there's the leather encased ricasso followed by the parry hooks.

- Blóðmóðr (Bloodwrath) *Passive ability

When my Zanpakutou is released it automatically causes everyone in a 20 meter radius to be affected by the raging spirit of Ulf. The intensity of the effect depends on the reiatsu. It can either go from a small amount of anger to a blinding rage where the affected person will attack anything nearby.
This ability is most useful for dealing with a large number of weak enemies.



- Bärsärkar-gång (Going Berserk)

I combine my strength with Ulf absorbing some of his spirit. This increases my speed and fighting power but at the same time I absorb some of his rage. A dangerous but powerful ability.


fighting style:

When faced with only one enemy I will use Blóðmóðr to power up and attack aggressively using slashing attacks to sever limbs. I can grab the blade by the ricasso and the handle to use it more like a spear and use fast thrusting attacks to impale my opponent.
By wielding it half-sword style (left hand grasping the ricasso and right holding the handle just below the guard) my attacks become faster but they're less powerful than the full swings when I hold the handle with both hands.

If I face multiple opponents I will use Bärsärkar-gång to cause confusion and I will attack the strongest among them. Then after I kill him I can move on to the less powerful ones and finish them off.

- Ulfheðnar (Wolf Berserker)

I hold Ulf in sword of my chest in horizontally half-sword style and say Bankai.
A bright yellow flash of light emits from the gem and I become bathed in the light for a moment.
When I appear again sword has turned back into its unreleased form and my shinigami uniform has turned into a leather scaled lammelar armour with black fur covering my arms.
Ulf materialises next to me, unchained and ready to fight.

With Ulf materialised I can command him to attack my opponents. He can also use his shikai abilities.
His speed is fast enough to keep up with shunpo.

I can also ride on his back.

If Ulf is killed while he's materialised he'll return to my inner world and I won't be able to use Shikai or Bankai for
24 hours.

The second style I could use is to ride on his back and cut at my opponents as I rush by.

During all three states the user rarely uses Kido and if it is used it is more of a distraction method or lure in order to set a trap. Any hand to hand that is used is centred on the Wushu style, using the wielders flexibility and initiative to the greatest advantage they can.

A dark cave made from black rock with stalactites hanging from the ceiling. Ulf is in the centre chained to the floor. Watching me with his yellow eyes and hoping that I will be careless and come close enough to bite.
The chain is thin, made of black metal and fastened to the ground with rings of the same colour.

Ulf sometimes speaks to me telepathically with an unearthly low voice sounding menacing with each word.

My fighting style with the unreleased blade is combination of Zanjutsu and Hakuda. I wield Ulf with one hand and kick, punch, grab and throw my opponents. My favourite tactic is to grab my opponent and throw him off balance while I get behind him and stab to either the back of his neck or his spine.

A 150 cm (60") double edged blade with a 30 cm (12") handle. It has a simple steel cross guard with a bright yellow gem set in the centre. After the guard there's the leather encased ricasso followed by the parry hooks.

When my Zanpakutou is released it automatically causes everyone in a 20 meter radius to be affected by the raging spirit of Ulf. The intensity of the effect depends on the reiatsu. It can either go from a small amount of anger to a blinding rage where the affected person will attack anything nearby.
This ability is most useful for dealing with a large number of weak enemies.



- Bärsärkar-gång (Going Berserk)

I combine my strength with Ulf absorbing some of his spirit. This increases my speed and fighting power but at the same time I absorb some of his rage. A dangerous but powerful ability.

When faced with only one enemy I will use Blóðmóðr to power up and attack aggressively using slashing attacks to sever limbs. I can grab the blade by the ricasso and the handle to use it more like a spear and use fast thrusting attacks to impale my opponent.
By wielding it half-sword style (left hand grasping the ricasso and right holding the handle just below the guard) my attacks become faster but they're less powerful than the full swings when I hold the handle with both hands.

If I face multiple opponents I will use Bärsärkar-gång to cause confusion and I will attack the strongest among them. Then after I kill him I can move on to the less powerful ones and finish them off.

I hold Ulf in sword of my chest in horizontally half-sword style and say Bankai.
A bright yellow flash of light emits from the gem and I become bathed in the light for a moment.
When I appear again sword has turned back into its unreleased form and my shinigami uniform has turned into a leather scaled lammelar armour with black fur covering my arms.
Ulf materialises next to me, unchained and ready to fight.

His speed is fast enough to keep up with shunpo.

I can also ride on his back.

Jakarru Kami no kashira (Head of the Jackal God)

Jakarru Kami no Kashira is a 33" long Katana with a 28" blade and 5" hilt. The blade is black and curved more than usual, causing it to resemble a large sickle or hook on a shepherds crook. The Guard is a vibrant gold coloured octagon with Ankh's etched in to both sides at half centimetre intervals. The hilt of the katana is black to match the blade but wrapped neatly in a white, bandage like, material and topped in a gold coloured pommel cover.On the butt of the pommel cover is a small carving of a Jackals head.


Inner World:

The inner world is a desolate landscape of what seems to be white sand and rock. On closer inspection however the sand is revealed to be natron, a salt-like substance used to preserve mummies, and the rocks are the lower half of unused Canopic Jars made of calcite. A vicious wind blows through the landscape at all times, constantly changing the terrain and weighing the visitor down with a sense of dread caused by the thought that they may not escape. There is only one way in and out of this world and that is a black door, edged in a gold light, that is constantly changing position. Jakarru Kami no Kashira refers to the door as "The Souls Entrance" and only he is able to lead you to the door and to freedom.

The spirit of Jakarru Kami no Kashira is a small black jackal with a bandage around the neck, tied in to a bow. He is extremely silent and only speaks when he feels it is necessary for him to do so. His stare is somewhat unnerving, as if he is constantly weighing you up and deciding where to place you on his list. In stark contrast to his surroundings he is active all day, though more so at dawn and dusk, constantly gathering Natron and weighing it on his front paws. His calm demeanour and wise words earn him great respect and he will return that respect if he deems you worthy enough. The greatest form of respect he shows is allowing you to leave the inner world by guiding you to the door.


Shikai Release Command: Anatatachi wa hakaru, Jakarru Kami no Kashira (Weigh them, Head of the Jackal God.)

Jakarru Kami no Kashira changes in to a spiked black wooden flail. It is made from two pieces of wood that are attached by a white 3" chain, like an overly large nunchuk, and are extremely durable. The handle (For lack of a better word) is 1.5m long and 1.5" in diameter. The spiked piece of wood is 1m long and 1.5" in diameter. It is covered in gold coloured metal spikes that are spaced half an inch either side and run down to the end of the wood. The tip of the spiked piece is curved upwards slightly to form a crude tearing or grappling hook.

In Shikai, Jakarru Kami no Kashira gains the ability to increase or decrease the power of its attacks by altering the weight of the spiked pole on the flail. The heavier the spiked pole becomes, the more damage is caused but it becomes harder to wield. The maximum the wielder can carry effectively is 135lbs (roughly 61kg) though it can go higher. The only time the maximum weight would be used is if the opponent was significantly larger than the wielder.

Zenrei no Kachi (Worth of one's whole soul)

This ability allows Jakarru Kami no Kashira to peer in to the opponents soul and weigh it against the feather of truth. If the soul is lighter than the feather by a great deal then any damage caused by Jakarru Kami no Kashira will be miniscule, even if the wound would normally kill. The heavier the soul the greater the damage and if the soul is heavier than the feather by a great margin even the smallest cut can be turned in to a life threatening injury.

When this ability is used the wielder can see the soul being weighed by Jakkaru Kami no Kashira as a ghostly image in front of the opponent and can be seen by both opponent and wielder. It depicts Jakarru Kami no Kashira with a set of scales placed in front of him. On the right hand scale is the feather of truth and on the left hand scale is a blue light in the shape of a heart, representing the opponents soul. Once the soul is measured Jakarru Kami no Kashira returns to the inner world with the scales and feather of truth. In shikai the complete form of the opponent is needed to be seen, even if only for a second, in order for the soul to be weighed.


Bankai: Jakarru Kami no Genri (Fundamental truth of the Jackal God)

Approx. 14" in diametre they are razor sharp and extremely light, allowing for a faster swing or slash.

The wielders head becomes encased in a black metal mask in the shape of a Jackal head. They are covered from the base of the neck, all the way to the top of the head and ears and a snout protrude several inches in their correct places. The mask itself is covered in a fine gold filligree of swirls and ankhs whilst the eye sockets seem to glow a blazing white. Although appearing to be heavy it allows for fluent movement and all around vision, leaving no blind spots except natural ones.

The wielders clothing changes to a metallic gold skirt and halter top that exposes the midriff. The skirt itself is calf length and splits up the front to allow movement, with a simple black cloth hanging to keep everything covered. On the top of the skirt is a chain belt with charms made up of ankhs that matches an anklet on the wielders right ankle. The top is tied at the neck and back tightly to keep it secure and moveable and the wielder is left barefoot. On the wielders upper left arm is a simple gold armlet in the shape of a jackal.

The wielder gains a significant speed and strength boost, allowing them to move with the speed and agility of a Jackal and lift twice as much as before. The legs of the user are also inbued with strength allowing for kicks powerful enough to break rock and the ability to jump to extreme heights. (In testing the highest the user has ever jumped is just over 9m.) The abilities from Shikai are also boosted, raising the weight limit of the weapon to 270lbs (122kg) and allowing both ends of the axe to change weight. Zenrei no Kachi now needs only a split second glimps of any part of the opponents body in order to weigh the soul and the users reiatsu rises by approx. 70%.

Hantei no Omori (Weight of Judgement)

This ability brings forth the sense of dread that is present in the inner world of Jakarru Kami no Kashira. It presses down on the opponent and makes them nervous and jittery, instilling a sense of paranoia that can potentially disable the opponent. In the most extreme cases it can cause a state of live mummification, dry-freezing the opponent on the spot completely.

hmm I like him because he is funny and badass at the same time . we saw how he killed that stupid Arrancer with one shot .and I think he will take huge rule in the story in the future . he 'll have a whole arc focusing on him after all .
